Shadow Electronics stands for high quality and absolutely reliable pickup systems for many stringed instruments. In 1971 Joe Marinic, president, founded Shadow in Germany where it is still located.
At an early age, Joe was a successful guitarrist. With his Blues and Jazz band he achieved high name recognition in and outside his native country and performed on television as well as on radio shows. Throughout its existence musical enthusiasm and substantiated knowledge have been and still are the foundations and basis of Shadow’s success.
This makes Shadow to the oldest and most experienced manufacturer of pickups and preamps.
Many products that are now “standard†in music instruments were developed by Shadow. Just think of the endpin connector, undersaddle bridge pickups, magnetic-undersaddle mix pickups, magnet- piezo and mircophone mix. In addition Shadow was a pioneer in guitar-to-midi conversion. Today it would be difficult to imagine the music industry without Shadow products.
Shadow products span a wide variety of pickups and preamplifiers for acoustic, classical, electric, maccaferri and jazz guitars, violin, cello, upright bass, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, saz, oud and many, many other ethnic instruments.

Nanoflex pickups do not only take the vibrations of the strings like common undersaddle pickups. Nanoflex senses the vibrations of the strings AND the body of the instrument simultaneously.
This gives the equivalent of having a condenser-microphone mixed with an undersaddle pickup. No other technology gives you this high level of sound reproduction.
SOUNDHOLE PICKUPS

The sound hole pickups belong to the family of the electromagnetic pickups. Therefore they only work on steel string instruments. The pickup is placed in the sound hole and connected depending upon preference with endpin output or by a cable hanging from the sound hole to the amplifier unit. If you just let the pickup cable hang loosely out of the sound hole, you don’t have to modify your instrument.
