BIOGRAPHY

Adele Ramos the writer and journalist:

I believe our future is written from our past, and our past is written into our future. My father and grandfather were both writers, and so it’s my turn to carry on the family tradition. Their most known writings were those that appeared on the pages of Belize’s major newspapers. Today, I work full-time as a print journalist, and I feel honored to continue this line of work for a third generation in the Ramos lineage.
Like them, I also write short stories, poetry and songs. My favorite pieces to write are those that deal with important social issues and those that celebrate the accomplishments of those who have done their part in uplifting society. I believe that we are inspired to greatness when we hear of the successes of others.
I also wrote for season 1 of the Belizean dramatic series - Noh Matta Wat - and continued to be a part of the creative team that mapped out seasons 2 and 3.

Adele Ramos the author and publisher:

Words live on for posterity when they are placed in print, and that is why I publish. My first book, released in 2000, was T.V. Ramos – The Man and His Writings. This book documents the life and works of my grandfather, a Belizean patriot and Garifuna hero. It is a historic piece still available in stores and through the National Garifuna Council of Belize.
Five years later, in 2005, I released my first self-published piece – my love anthology, PHASES. Subsequently, I published Liberated, an anthology of 123 poems written by Anne K. Lowe. Later, in 2006, I produced an anthology for Belizean poets under the caption, Sunset Jewel, coming out of a national poetry contest I organized as president of the Belizean Poets Society in 2005.
New publications are in the pipeline.

Adele Ramos the fashion designer:

I design and make a range of garments, mostly for women and children. I do sketches, create patterns, etc. and assemble designs based on the specs created.
At a benefit fashion show for the YWCA in 2006, I modeled an African ensemble I had made.

Adele Ramos the visual artist:

“A picture is worth a thousand words,” and essays, novels and poems are enshrined in the pieces that I draw, paint, and develop through graphic art techniques on computer. Not much of this side of me has been shown to the public, but look out for something special in the months ahead.

Adele Ramos the poet and performer:

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager. They remained my personal tributes to my loved ones until my first poetry anthology in 2005. In the following year, I released a double CD, and on the heels of that an accompanying DVD.
I have performed for a range of events, both festive and ceremonial.
Before I was known as a poet, I was known as a singer and composer, my first major song dubbed Hush Baby was a call for society to act to save our children from the destruction wrought by violent acts against young people.
More of my productions are coming soon…including Black Orchid Raw, Volume 2: The Next Level, The Manual, and Black Legends.

Adele Ramos the mother:

Aside from the many talents that God has blessed me with, he has also given to me two very lovely children – Kayla and Emeri. I had Kayla the year after I completed my first degree (1996), and my son, Emeri, came along 11 years later. They are my inspiration.
