Band Members:"As director of the Arts Center Linda Trudeau sees tremendous talent and potential in the children and adults who participate in many diffferent venues; once in a while someone comes along who stands head and shoulders above the rest. The most recent example of this is thirteen-year-old Alyssa Surrette, who is flying high after landing the Encore Repertory Company's lead role in Peter Pan. Surrette is no stranger to the community, having donated her time and talent to many local events such as singing in the Memorial Day cermony and the towns' 4th of July festivities, perfoming in the Santa's Elves telethon, and the Milk Fund fundraiser just to name a few. In addition she been hightlighted on the local cable stations including "Something Special" hosted by Trudeau. If this isn't enough to keep her busy, Alyssa also plays the piano and loves to read in her spare time. She is an honor student and participates in numerous local community theatre productions. For two years Alyssa has sung the National Anthem at McCoy Stadium for the American League "Red Sox" minor League baseball team, the "Paw Sox". She won the junior division of the Woonsocket Autumnfest talent show in 2004 and '05 and has performed on the main stage and kidsfest for the past 3 years. She is a staunch supporter of and has participated in multiple fundraising events for Muscular Dystrophy, a cause which is dear to her heart since her uncle was lost to that disease at a young age. She is a member of the newly formed Encore Kids and just recently perfomed as the genie in Aladdin, Jr. at the Stadium Theatre. Alyssa started dancing at the age of 3 and her natural talent and abilities led her into acting and singing performing in her first production at age 7. Alyssa is a true talent and I am sure we will be seeing her name in bright lights in the future." Article in the October 2006 Bulletin
