'Maybe that's what life is...a wink of the eye and winking stars.' - Jack Kerouac

About Me

So...About me...I'm all about conquering fears right now. I am currently training for the San Diego Rock N Roll Marathon and working to raise $1,100 to help save people's lives from blood cancer as a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. It is a big deal for me, and I hope I can have your support.
I am a full believer in the fact that people can do pretty much anything they put their mind to. Take it from me; there was a time when I didn't even think I'd graduate high school. I currently work full time as a content manager for a fast growing Internet marketing agency, and I love the people I work with. I graduated in 2006 from SDSU with a BA in journalism/English, which was a big accomplishment for me and prepared me for my life today.
I moved here from Northern California about five years ago to focus on school instead of the party-all-the-time lifestyle I used to live, and I've never looked back. I still consider myself a NorCal girl at heart, but I don't think it feels like "home" any more. It took me a while to find my niche in San Diego, but now I love it here. I guess I'm gonna stay.
Writing is my passion, and although my work doesn't allow me to be super-creative, at least I'm getting paid to put my fingers to the keyboard and use my mastery of the English language. I also haven't eaten meat in a decade, but I promise I don't hate meat eaters. Most of my friends are carnivores... And I'm a bleeding heart liberal, I must admit. I enjoy a good spirited debate, though, even if your views differ from mine. Guess that's me, take it or leave it.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4

My Interests

Good rock music, journalism, writing, going to shows and concerts, a good book when I've got the time, hanging out at dive bars, karaoke, dreams of traveling Europe, cats, sleeping, good times.............

I'd like to meet:

Friends that aren't lame. People who are not vapid, fake, stupid or obsessed with their looks. And Canadians.

Music:

I love lots of music, but I have to admit I have an affinity for pop punk, but not the crap on MTV right now, except for Green Day. They're awesome, even if everyone thinks their sell-outs. I grew up listening to The Queers and Screaching Weasel and other poppy punk bands. Some of the other stuff I'm into is Ryan Adams, Communiqe, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Alkaline Trio, Jimmy Eat World, Muse, Pinhead Gunpowder, Le Tigre, White Stripes, The Vines, Death Cab for Cutie, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins, Beastie Boys, Bad Religion, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Bjork, Portishead, Jawbreaker, Operation Ivy, Bob Marley, Blondie, old school Madonna, Duran Duran, Erasure, The Clash, The Violent Femmes, etc........

Movies:

Anything with Molly Ringwald (The Breakfast Club is my favorite movie), Say Anything, The Neverending Story, The Princess Bride, Moulin Rouge, Trainspotting, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Pulp Fiction, The Joy Luck Club, Office Space, Half Baked, Point Break, Sid and Nancy, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars..........I could go on.

Television:

Dr Who (I'm so glad it's back!!!), Torchwood, Battlestar Galactica, The Daily Show, Food Network, the Golden Girls, Absolutely Fabulous, Family Guy, Futurama, the Simpsons, Friends, Will and Grace, The Office, Sex and the City.

Books:

The Basketball Diaries and The New York Diaries by Jim Carroll, A Clockwork Orange, anything by Jack Kerouac (especially On the Road), Jim Morrison poetry, Garfield books (I'm serious!), The Great Gatsby, The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, etc.....

Heroes:

Anyone who lives life by their own standards, not the standards society imposes on us.
