About Me

While I was born in the US, I've also lived in Russia and Australia. I just submitted my PhD thesis at UNSW in Sydney, Australia on the Slavic vampire myth and am slowly writing my first novel. My great loves are acting, writing, and non-profit work, so eventually I'd like to find a career that utilizes at least one of those. Who knows, maybe I'll make a living doing random extra parts like alien number 274 in Space Truckers Go To Hollywood...or edit screenplays...or become a crazy hermit writing my insane gibberish far up in the mountains...on second thought, I think I'll stick with the Space Truckers. While my past research work implies working laboriously in musty old archives on one overly exact topic, I love just about everything and will give almost anything a try (except perhaps jumping from perfectly good airplanes...one of those things I always meant to do, but I intensely don't wanna).Aside from work and my ramblings on the indefinite future, my average day can be anything from reading obsessively to fighting for social justice to taking off to random cheap travel destinations at the drop of a hat (on the rare occasion that I have money, that is). I've even been known to try for community theatre parts playing lemurs.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who I can keep an interesting conversation with, who perhaps shares some of my interests, and who enjoys a little spontanaeity and adventure in life.

Death is Bullshit. George Carlin Dies, Age 71

Ironically enough, I sent around a video of George Carlin's take on America today before I found out about the news, which shows just how much I loved this man and often consulted with his comedy rout...

A Pirates Demise and Kazakhstan

Well, before I get started on this entry, I suppose I should give a little forewarning, that I have fallen under the sway of that rather potent drink of the pirates--not in an attempt to become "a lit...

An Oddity Amongst Oddities

In my ceaseless search to discover my own internal nature, my curiosity prevailed in leading me to a Myers-Briggs test, or more correctly, a shortened online version since, being the penny-pinching pe...

This is to have succeeded...

I once heard a cunning little antidote about a young person finding meaning at the bottom of a Crackerjack Box. I had always regarded such a tale as folly, for truly what enlightenment could one gain ...

Clarity Amongst Confusion

The ironic thing about hitting rock bottom is once you're there, no matter how terrible and downtrodden you feel, you are faced with only two possible paths, either to stay at the bottom of that caver...

A Canadian Sweeney Todd on a Midnight Train

Life remains as confusing as ever and I still find myself pondering that age-old question, "Who am I?" It will probably be some time before I know the answer, involving much hair-pulling, crazy chatti...

What...resolutions? You mean Im supposed to keep those?

Once again I find myself awake in the wee hours of the night, unable to sleep as my mind goes surfing over a vast sea of disconnected thoughts...I really need to enforce a curfew on it, along the line...

A Long Overdue Blog

So it has only taken me a period of, hmm let me calculate, two months to write yet another missive about my rather random and at times rather entertainingly dull life (yes, I recognize the contradicti...
