In 1998, a friend introduced me to the art of dj'ing. After a year of mediocre grades, I managed to scrape together enough money to buy my first set of technic 1200's. I haven't looked back since.
Throughout the years I managed to land some great gigs. During my short time at UCLA I landed an internship at UCLAradio.com. After a quarter of interning, I co-hosted the show Broadband. It was consistently one of the top three shows at the internet radio station. My residency of a year and a half at UCLAradio was cut short by my deployment to Iraq in 2003.
After returning from Iraq, I primarily focused on completing transfer prerequisites for USC at Citrus College in the city of Glendora. During the summer of 2004 I entered a DJ contest being held by Power106 and Richard Vission's radio show, Powertools. Out of over 80 contestants I ended up in the Top 8.
I was deployed for a second time and spent 2006 in Djibouti, Africa.
Upon my return I began attending Mt. SAC in the city of Walnut in 2007. In addition, I established an entertainment production/management company, Soul Sol Entertainment.
We had our first show May 3rd, 2008 with the Visionaries, D.I. Joe, Mike Mula and myself. In 2008 I was also accepted to the University of Southern California as a Music Industry major and am currently attending.
Musically, I am constantly working on maintaining my DJ skills as well as allowing my personal style to continue developing. At the moment I am currently working on a Deep House project with fellow USC DJ, DJ Opi Styles. Look out for that in the near future.Peace.
Julio.
