About Me

I don't really watch much tv anymore. Instead, I've become an avid podcast listener. My daily rotation of podcasts include BBC News (Global and Africa Today). I also listen to Asia Cast, produced by SOH Radio. The BBC Global is produced twice daily, and the other two are daily. PRI the World- Geo Quiz is nearly daily. I like that one a lot. Its quick 5 minute or so show based on a geography question. Each question has some sort of relevance to something going on there, such as a festival, or some other cultural or physical point of interest. Star Date from the MacDonald Observatory describes the night's sky. BBC Thought For the Day invites a spiritual leader from all religions and asks them to speak on a current event for about two or three minutes. I like the humanity of that show. My weekly shows include Astronomy Cast, Alan Watts, The Classic Tales Podcast, Escape Pod, Inside Renewable Energy, Just Not Right, The Moth, and probably my very favorite podcast of all... THis American Life. That's my regular listening line up. I'm also subscribed to a bunch of once a month or so podcasts, and I have a bunch saved to my Zune, such as all of the Mr. Deity videocasts (which I think are funnier than Hell.) I have some videocasts that have been released by the Jet Propulsion Lab (NASA)and the Spitzer IR Telescope- oh I can't even describe how beautiful the images are. I think the Spitzer ones are in HD too.Well, that list of entertainment gives you an idea of what kind of dork I am.[LOVEMYFLASH]

I’m a Patriot!

I spent a few hours on the Fourth doing what I consider to be one of the most patriotic things one can do- I helped people register to vote. What a thankless job. I've done it before, although I'm not...

Space Sci Fi

Oddly enough, I've managed to do the little things I suggested to do earlier this week in my blog. Usually when I put something down on paper (or virtual paper in this case) I'm more likely to follow ...

The whirlwind of the semester is finally behind me. I think college life is a lot like being a little kid in a big wave. Before you know it you're in over your head, tumbling around, skidding your for...
