International Students For Social Equality

About Me

World Socialist Web Site
The International Students for Social Equality (ISSE) is the global student organization dedicated to the building of a mass revolutionary socialist movement. The ISSE is the student organization of the Socialist Equality Party, aninternational party of the working class.
The ISSE stands for:
•Social Equality
•An End to War and Colonialism
•Defense of Democratic Rights
•International Socialism
The need of the day is for an independent political movement of the working class as a whole. Our aim is to build a movement of working people based on a clear and comprehensive theoretical perspective that will take power and reorganize society on a egalitarian basis.
The ISSE advocates a massive redistribution of the world's resources by the international working class combined with a rational, democratic plan to harness society's enormous productive capacity and raise living standards in every corner of the planet.
The ISSE fights for the rebirth of the international socialist movement. The 20th century saw great revolutionary struggles for socialism, but Stalinism, Social Democracy, and the corrupt bureaucracies of the labor movements systematically betrayed these.
We combat all forms of nationalism, racism, and chauvinism. In a world economy, the issues facing youth everywhere are essentially the same. The ISSE seeks to unite the working class across all national, religious, linguistic or ethnic barriers.
We oppose the conception that any progress can be achieved through bourgeois and nationalist parties. In the United States the Democrats, including Barack Obama, no less than the Republicans, defend the interests of the corporations and the ruling elite. The Democrats are deeply implicated in the criminal invasion of Iraq, the assaults on Democratic rights, and the growth of inequality.
The same holds true for the Labor Party in Australia, the SPD and the Left Party in Germany, the NDP in Canada, New Labour in Britain, the PSOE in Spain, and the Socialist Party in France, Kemalism in Turkey, the Greens in all of these countries, as well as the various bourgeois nationalist movements in Asia, Latin America, and Africa.
We reject the politics of radical protest, of sloganeering, of pressuring the powers that be. Protest means nothing without the goal of mobilizing the international working class against capitalism. Organizations, even when they call themselves socialist, that create illusions in protest or seek to pressure the establishment are only the left wing of the establishment itself.
The ISSE draws its inspiration from the great intellectual and political tradition of Marx, Engels, Lenin, Luxemburg, and Trotsky.
The ISSE is a part of the International Committee of the Fourth International (ICFI), founded in 1953 to defend the Fourth International established by Leon Trotsky in 1938 from adaptations to Stalinism and nationalism. We proudly uphold our historical legacy and struggle to advance the revolutionary potential of billions of working people.
The ICFI publishes the daily World Socialist Web Site in 14 languages. wsws.org is by far the most comprehensive, incisive, and widely read socialist publication in the world.
