About Me

Buddy was turned onto music early in his life in St. Louis. He began watching music videos on MTV at 18 months old and attended his first concert (Van Halen) at age four. He started playing drums at age two with pencils on a bar, but didn't begin taking lessons until he turn four. By age six, he was playing drums in a church band with his father on lead guitar.
Growing up he sat in with several of his drum teachers’ bands until age sixteen when he started touring Southeast Missouri in a country and rock cover band. In summer 2006, Buddy appeared on the CBS Early Show "Living Room Live" contest where he was featured playing drums in his basement. He relocated to Nashville in fall 2006 where he drummed off and on for a few country artists while recording with his alternative rock band.
Rock and roll runs through Buddy’s blood. “My dad has always told me that I’m a rock drummer, not a country drummer,” Buddy recalls. “He knew I wouldn’t be happy playing country music, and he was absolutely right. I wasn't happy playing country, but that's what I had going at the time. Then, Zen Rizing came along and I quit playing with everyone else.”
Buddy’s career took a drastic turn in January 2008. Scott heard Buddy play drums for the first time, and the two realized their musical connection. A month later, Buddy received a call from Scott to play conga on a TV show appearance he and Steve were invited to play in nearby Clarksville, TN. After twenty minutes of rehearsing, the three hit it off and Zen Rizing was born.
