It was in the summer of 1948 in the little town of East Bernstadt in Laurel County near London Kentucky where the oldest of 11 children was born
and spent his boyhood days sharing the load with his parents to help raise the family. The rural experience was filled with school days, farm life,
and apple growing. It was hard work but still offered it's rewards, most of which was found in the evenings and Sundays.
His passion for music was second to none and started at the age of 3, he learned to sing while he rocked to keep time in a little red rocking
chair, he began to play the guitar at the age of 6, with his mother giving the lessons. As his love for music grew so did the Burkhart family, before
his 17th birthday he went to work in a service station in Grove City, PA., while living with his aunt and uncle, there a door of opportunity was
opened for his music career he sang at local clubs and social events he later returned to Laurel County, Kentucky, at the age of 19, it was
there he was asked to sing at the local homecoming where he was awarded first prize for his singing talent. He began singing on local
radio stations and was asked to sing for the Cas Walker Farm & Home Hour Show, at the time Dolly Parton began her singing career there,
however, he never kept that appointment he soon married a local girl and dedicated his time to his family of 4 daughters and one son. The
marriage had it's share of troubles and ended after 31 years in 1999.
Burkhart now a Nashville Songwriters Association member has returned to his music career and writes songs that come from the heart,
the sole experiences of life just the way they are, a variety of country and humor. Myspace Graphics
