The Peoples Alibi

About Me

Formed in 2002 The Peoples Alibi came from the mindset of a drunken night where frontman & guitar player Tommy Barnes decided that his fruitful mind should be shared and fed to all to hear. Embracing this idea were friends Jim Loughlan (bass), Gordon (drums) and shortly after Joe Duffy (guitar). After some early and much organised chaos the band started to make a sudden and much needed impact on and for the local scene. The band was to see an early change in line up with Jim Loughran (bass) & Gordon (drums) leaving due to commitment issues. There was no time wasted when Dave Scally (bass) and Dave Watson (drums) were to join the equation. It was quickly realised that their obsession with the "sex, drugs, rock n roll" cliché would help them settle in as well as a pig in mud.
After moving out of the local scene and branching out to the big city and beyond The Peoples Alibi sat down and recorded their 1st studio demo "Get Up, Stand Up". The EP received much acclaim from countless internet fanzines and even from published magazine "Big Cheese". Live shows were countless over this period with TPA throwing raw intoxicant music back to the audience and picking up plaudits wherever they roamed. They even managed to appear alongside Peter & The Test Tube Babies, The Lurkers & received enormous applause at The Wickerman Festival after a much successful showing.
After such a promising start a lengthy and unforeseen break was to be enforced on the band. Frontman Tommy broke his knee and the band was forced to hibernate for the best part of a year during Tommy's recuperation.
However undeterred the band picked themselves up and started back with some highly successful comeback gigs. There was to be another kick in the teeth for TPA as guitarist Joe Duffy decided he no longer fitted into the Alibi mould. This was to be a blow for the Alibi however determined and as focused as always the story continued.
Time was something that TPA had on their side. After taking time to tighten and learn as a 3 piece it was decided that they should then go on to write and record their new studio demo. Entitled "Feel The Width" this will be out in March 2005. The future is long and bright for The Peoples Alibi. The current line up of Watson, Scally & Barnes have taken problem and plaudits in their stride and with composure. With many long nights and hard hitting tunes The Peoples Alibi encompass what British rock music has missed in the past few years, some balls.
