About Me

"I've admired the harmonica playing of Jem Turpin before on this programme" Paul Jones, BBC Radio 2, January 2006

"the harmonica player is Jem Turpin and he's wonderful throughout the album." Paul Jones, BBC Radio 2, March 2007 - speaking about the new John Pearson cd 'Eucalypso Furioso' (available from John's website; www.johnpearsonblues.com).

I'm a harmonica player and artist eking out a precarious but entertaining living. I've had the pleasure of recording three sessions for BBC national radio as well as doing some session work for television and film and also popping up on various cds.

Currently I'm working with three main line-ups; Nightshift, John Pearson's Blues & Beyond, and Sundog (duo's trio's or full band). John's website address is listed above whilst Nightshift and Sundog have myspace pages (see my 'Top Friends) where you can check them out.

I spend most of my time working on my music, painting and looking after my children. In those rare moments when I'm not doing any of the aforementioned I read novels, listen to the radio, watch cricket and films, daydream, eat, and wander upstairs before wondering why it was that I went up there in the first place.

For anyone who's interested, I've posted some pictures of my paintings under my pics section.

Video:Jem Turpin and Junior Thompson play This and That and That and This. a.k.a. two old farts at play
An almost completely dark video of me and my old friend Toph taking a stab at Ain't Misbehaving. All in all in it was a splendid evening ending with one last bottle at six in the morning, but then we hadn't seen each other for twenty years! By the looks of this vid we still didn't see each other.
