Reading, music, silent movies, beautiful Petey and beautiful Lucy, support for my local animal shelters, animal welfare, shopping, cosmetics, tattoos, sweet sweet silence, fussing over my ever-changing head of hair, making my friends laugh, Neil Young's "Cinnamon Girl", great big huge coffee table books that weigh a ton and are filled with pictures, acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, warm sunny spring days, surrealism, dark matter, strange matter, strange and dark matter at the same time, astrophysics, astronomy, obscurity, flowers, art, bitching about my husband, photography, professional wrestling, finding stuff on Ebay I never thought I'd see again, good food, good GREEN, looking at jewelry but never wearing it, doing my nails, blowing things up in my brain...all sortsa stuff.
I'd like to meet:
Dr. Phil. Or Timothy Leary. No correlation between the two. I am aware that Timothy Leary is dead, but this is my fantasy and I can pick who I want.
Music:
It runs the gamut....lets see...The Beatles, The Kinks, The Animals, The Who (I have all the english 60's bands out of the way...) Nine Inch Nails, Type O Negative, The Ramones, U2, Dead Kennedys, Jane's Addiction, Modwheelmood, Social Distortion, The Flaming Lips, Saul Williams, Ministry, The Cure, Bowie, Sisters of Mercy, Eagles of Death Metal, Chainsaw Kittens, Legendary Shack Shakers, Wendy O Williams and the Plasmatics, 80's college music (notice these are in no particular order, I'm just typing what comes into my head) Jeff Buckley, Led Zeppelin, Warren Zevon, Ozzy, Smashing Pumpkins (I MISS MISS MISS the Pumpkins, they were a HUGE part of my teenage years....still love them), Prince, The Cult, The Icarus Line...I'll have to think more but I'm pretty diverse. Pretty much anything but country, except for Johnny Cash. He was punk rock decades before anyone had uttered the words "punk rock." Lately I've also been beginning to learn about and appreciate 19th century russian opera. It's strangely satisfying.
Movies:
Silent movies (ANY silent movies) like stuff with Lon Chaney, Clara Bow, Lillian Gish, Rudolph Valentino, Louise Brooks, Theda Bara, Musidora, Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin…Nosferatu, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Metropolis, Les Vampires, Judex, Pandora's Box, IT, A Fool There Was (how I wish more of Theda Bara’s movies were salvaged!) along with many many others. As for sound…Cool Hand Luke, What ever happened to Baby Jane, Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte, The Night of the Hunter, Pretty Baby, Raising Arizona, Eraserhead, The Professional, Blue Velvet, LOTR (all 3), Harry Potter, Marilyn Monroe’s movies, Devil’s Rejects, Silence of the Lambs, The Green Mile…all sorts of nifty movies. Not a big romantic comedy type person though. If Sandra Bullock is in the movie I usually stay away. Far away.
Television:
TV BAD!!!!! If it's not on the History Channel, Discovery, TLC (except for those stooopid makeover and home shows) A&E or PBS (don't laugh they have some interesting stuff on there sometimes) I try to stay away from it. Some of those reality tv shows...jeez...I can feel my brain rotting if I so much as watch the previews of them. I feel so sorry for reality tv stars, they seem to have no idea that they're a complete joke. Maybe they do.
Books:
I used to read absolutely nothing but non fiction. Like history books, biographies, science books and whatnot. If only my high school teachers could see me!! Then Chris got me to read "A Time to Kill" (Grisham, I believe?)and slowly but surely, I'm starting to read novels. I've found my own favorites. I love Oscar Wilde, Poe, Dostoyevsky (I'm currently engrossed in "The Brothers Karamazov" and will start "Crime and Punishment" after that) Tolstoy. I've also started getting into Freud's works. What a filthy mind he had. I love it.
