Add to My Profile

Evening, late

Temperature's high

Basslines pulsing in the mind

Images of coloured clouds pass by

He is

Lying on his bed

Spaced out,

Can hardly move

Spotlight, blue

Klaus on the turntable

Wow and flutter

Gentle trance

Arpeggio after arpeggio

Alpha waves keep slowing down.

poem by jah Funkey, dec 2006

Jah Funkey has had an influence on the local music scene, that cannot be underestimated. Jah Funkey's house also has been and still is a rehearsal place for various bands (most recently Savana Station). Together with Michiel van Poucke, Jah Funkey started "The Higher Grow Recording Studio", where local bands recorded their demo's and CD's ( amongst others :"Ail Fion", "Orgasmaddix", "Oortcloud", "Sunscape",...

JAH FUNKEY NOW
2007In 2007 Jah funkey has written some new dubs together with Bram van Meervenne. He also made a video clip for Ringel-S together with Torino Schiettecatte (viewable below), and some other video's. For the first time since 2001, he's also back on stage for a jamsession with Christophe van den Ende and Jan Van den Berghe at an open air party at Belsele.

2008 April 2008, jah Funkey makes his most recent song "the news factor".

June 2008, jah Funkey was asked (amongst many others) by Carlos Dyckmans to do 2 remixes for the forthcoming Koala remix album. "Easily I Clectically" is an ambient dubversion of "Easy Reading", and "Lost My Shadow" is a dubby version of "Shadowland" (the latter with David van Belleghem (drums), Jo Hermans (trumpet) and Vincent Brijs (bariton sax) . These mixes will soon be available at "I Tunes".

jah Funkey is currently starting to work on a new live set (still looking for musicians).

MORE INTERESTSNext to Jah Funkey's musical interest, he's also into graphical design, 3d design, drawing and painting, video editing, writing, etc, etc...
jah Funkey studies interior design at the Sint-Niklaas Arts Academy (his teachers are Luc Ramael (interior architect and designer (he's created some amazing lamps and furniture) and Peter Vandecapelle (architect))
As Jah Funkey believes in the power of art, he's hoping to create something meaningfull one day, and thus contibute in his own modest way to a better and again progressing world... (Jah Funkey 's got the feeling we're progressing backwards...)

Jah Funkey and Torino Schiettecatte directed the first ringel-S video .
