About Me
Everything you hear, is recorded as purely as they came to me and most of them at improvising nightsOn Demo tape, sorry mistakes, was just the first take... =).. Guitar Player. From Medellin, Colombia. Music Student at the Arts Institute (IBA). When i was born my mother was worried about my health, but then i became a kind of healthy child with a really destructive mind, hyperactive mind. Then until i was 11, my parents tried every single thing for keeping my mind under control, and as you guess, the only way was ...PLAYING THE GUITAR. I started learnig at 11 mostly colombian folk music, and i have to say that i really enjoyed that. I started to learn with a great classical guitar player Maestro Gabriel Cañas Betancur, who is already dead. At 14, i started my classical guitar lessons and i found out that the only way become a good one was practicing. I used to play every where i could (just garage stuff :) ). For 3 years and after playing some classical guitar, i found the most incredible and amazing thing i've ever found: THE E-Guitar. my first guitar was a really cheap one. but i started to play some songs of Metallica, and so on. I used to play with my school band, ARGEZ, we played Kraken covers, Spanish Rock covers but on the other side i started to learn the most i could from the band i still admire and feel as one of the best: Dream Theater. Not to mention satriani, Vai, Gilbert and so on.
Then i went to the University (UdeA) for starting a formal learning of music. I was there for one year and a half. After some bad moments with my family i had to leave the music and started to study Engineering. For that time i went to germany where, without my familys knowledge, started some lessons of guitar Technique, Music History and Ear training, for six months at the ANNEN Schule and particular lesson. Then back to reallity. Back to Colombia, finished my engineering study. For 3 years i used to play with some bands but nothing really productive.
Then One beautiful day i woke up and said "what i'm i thinking" i have to go on with my music, and realized that my life was so horrible without it....so I leave a great job(not so) and get again into music at the Arts Institute, and today i'm practicing like crazy, from ear trainig to guitar technique and every single crazy document i can get(steve vai's 30 hour work out).
That's until today, i'll keep you up to date.
Update one: I forgot, my teachers: Henry Borrero, Jaime Chavez.
Update two: actually reading Dantes Divine Comedy.
Recently my guitar teacher is one of the best guitar players from Medellin, Andres Uribe.
Ok UPDATE Three: writting my book. I wish to put in there all i know about guitar from techniques, ear training, improvising even philosophy. I think i'm not the best but maybe some one is interested in knowing what i know.
UPDATE FOUR: NEXT SEMESTER I'LL TAKE THE RISK OF TRAVELING TO BOGOTA, I JUST DONT KNOW SOMEONE THERE AND DONT KNOW SOMEBODY THAT WORKS AS MUSICIAN, ILL TRY TO GET SOME GUITAR LESSONS AND FIND THE WAY FOR RECORDING MY FIRST CD.
