About Me

Ukrainian Alex Shatalov, from Kiev, works under name Leftie, which came from his natural born left-handedness. Being a hip-hop kid in mid 90's he met drum'n'bass music in early 97, catching a radio broadcast from a local station. It quickly became the favorite genre, eventually leading him to start producing music two years after, in 1999, together with his brother, trying to create tracks from all what was available to them. Heavilly influenced by tunes from labels like Whitehouse, R&S, Good Looking, Metalheadz, Moving Shadow, R.A.M. & Virus they began to experiment and started developing own style and, particulary, sound. With around 150 tracks written it total, they continued until 2002, when Alex's brother decided to leave music production switching his focus to business career. Alex contiuned, but only for two years, when things in his life turned in such way that it was impossible to find any kind of inspiration. It was a period of one and half year, until early 2006, when first offer to release a tune was received and resulted a signing of two tracks for ukrainan dnb producers compilation. Naturally, it brought in a strong motivation to produce tracks again, to learn more and push further. Being pretty experienced on sequencing, main direction was switched to technical aspects of production. By the end of 2008, Alex spends most of his time in a recently builded up studio, producing debut album, Younger Age Crisis, which is set to be finished and released in 2009.
