Wendy Mitchell

“Wendy Mitchell comes to us from Paradise, New Zealand, where she and her husband of 36 years live at the base of the Southern Alps.
Wendy says it's one of the prettiest places in the world, with six major Ski areas at her doorstep, and a lake to cool off on those hot summer days. She and her husband have three children and three beautiful grandchildren.
After leaving school, Wendy worked as a telephone operator, and when the children started arriving, she trained as a chef. Now that the children are grown, she's starting out on a new venture - as a DJ.
Wendy is a huge supporter of independent country artists and songwriters, and has helped many artists on their way to success in the business, including Jose Daniel, Pat Hannah, Billy Keeble, Bruce Greaves, Gail Russell, Stan Anderson and others.
Wendy also has the perfect voice and personality for radio, and her playlists include some of the best country artists world-wide.â€

Wendy Mitchell is all things to all listeners!
For those listeners lucky enough to live geographically close to her she is the perfect end of day DJ.
She takes listeners of Go Country With Derek to countries far and wide ..with her music from around the world

Her East coast listeners enjoy her from 5.00 am through to 8 am and her gentle friendly manner takes them through those early hours.
As an English listener here in the UK I either catch her show after a very, very late night or as my morning show as she kick starts me into another brand new day ..The Lady, as she has become affectionately known, plays a marvelous eclectic mix of the inevitable classic country we know and love blended with New Zealand and Australian country acts, both new and established.
As well as the cream of the American Indie artists.
She has the epitome of a magical ‘Radio Voice’ and when we are very lucky she, like some of the other DJ’s here, adds a lovely harmony back-up to the track we are listening to!
