John Courage resides in New Mexico for the moment, but over the course of his short life, he has lived throughout the western United States. With a love for old folk recordings, obscure pop refrences and a group of talented friends, John Courage's latest release was a limited edition of his album, "Murder of Crows". The instrumentation includes concert harp, accordian, upright bass, violin, cello, musical saw and odd ended percussion, and vocal stylings go from operatic to ghostly. Currently preparing for a new album with no working title, he has re-buffed his songwriting muscle to pull some heartstrings, make the people shake their collective ass and get out and do something.
In the past he has opened for a vast array acts including Ramblin' Jack Elliot, Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen, The Devil Makes Three, The Shiftless Rounders, and indie darlings The Velvet Teen. Often finding himself and his various backing bands on stage with punk, metal, or hip hop acts, he has learned to adapt like a chameleon without losing the ability to retain that certain "John Courage" sound.
