BIO:
Bettie Paige and Audrey Hepburn dazzled the world with their staggering beauty and fashion in what was known at the time as Hollywoodland in the 1940’s and 50’s. Unfortunately, not all could have the high status these pin-up goddesses possessed. Beneath all of this glitz and glamour in the 40s and 50s a select few showed us the darker side of Hollywoodland.
Peg Entwistle, a young actress from New York City escaped the depression of the 1930’s and at the time, her obsession with becoming a glamorous actress was the only thing keeping her alive. In the mirror she saw the fairest one of all, but had nothing to show for it. She moved to California like so many other young girls in hope of fame. With all hope lost and constant failure, she leaped over 50 feet from the Hollywoodland sign to her tragic end. The obsession to be the ultimate fashionista was enough to drive a girl to suicide.
Young, beautiful Elizabeth Short’s disembowled butchery was also known as the Black Dahlia Murder. It is only after her dark, twisted death that her name made headlines.
Trying so hard to be perfect, and what others want, even the most popular starlet of alltime, Marilyn Monroe lived a life of beauty, fame, and fortune, only to end up face down in a toilet, dead from an apparent overdose suicide. Ironically, vanity will be the ultimate demise of a cover girl.
Formed in December of 2006, Mirror Mirror For A Fashionista, a ballsy, high powered wrecking force from “The City Of Brotherly Love†Philadelphia,Pennsylvania is ready to lash the world in the ass with their intense, breakneck sound and exuberating stage presence.
After playing shows in bands such as Marigold, The Cover-Girl Murders and I Am a Dollar Sign, You Are a Number, a member of the band uploaded songs and made a profile without the others knowing or their consent. Two weeks later, the songs had flourished, catapulting the band to 1 in Pennsylvania on the Myspace music charts.
It was a mutual agreement between the five, the band would form immediately, with one goal in mind – pair the best parts of hardcore, death metal, and grind, with their own touches, add that with an attractive, die-hard, extensive, worldwide fanbase and turn each night into the best night of your life, one show at a time.
Putting the fans first and letting them know they are there to talk whenever, about whatever, MMFAF gives the fans a hands on approach actually making them feel like they are part of the band, and have known the band members for years. People are talking about Mirror Mirror for a Fashionista, the band with an ongoing theme running throughout each track: the dark and ironic side of beauty, glamour and fame.
REVIEWS:
A manic blur of bleeding metalcore wrought with experimental undercurrents, Mirror Mirror For A Fashionista’s music is a force not even the deaf could ignore. The band is more then able to inject enough of their own fervence into their craft to avoid sounding like clones. While often schizophrenic and frenetic, there's still an invigorating listen in place here. They really display a fine, manic, attention to detail not often seen. The drumming is brilliant, executed differently on every track. The girl of the group lets no stereotypes be brought up by constantly deliviring crushing, fast paced beats that keep the whole unit tight. The menacing, slashing guitars envoke fear and hatred, ripping through each and every elegantly titled track. Talk about screaming your heart out. Downright impressive, schreeching vocals are your only guide for what promises to be music that will make you scream, punch, kick, and maybe even cry. And maybe even take the genre to a whole new level.

It's not uncommon for a young band to freely list their contemporary peers as their influences, but it is uncommon when they actually sound better then them. Such is the case with Mirror Mirror For A Fashionista, on this, their debut ep. A chaotic mix of metalcore aggression mixed with noise and screamo elements, the music is voracious with discordant expression repeatedly shoehorned into 2-5 minute bursts. There's a definite “special something†to this band, and there is also much innovation.
They may sound like slightly twisted bits and pieces of your current favorites, but more raw and intense. Admirably, it is an honest stab with such a brisk pace at play, and with depth and identity, the beefy riffing and serrated vocals have huge payoff. The only breathe you will be able to take on the all hell breaks loose tracks will be once the song is over.

While having seen its fair share of delays, the debut offering from MMFAF will soon be released and will likely serve as one of the most competent unsigned outings of the year. Rather than take on the muscular, macho side of the hardcore genre, the band often cloak themselves in wretched screams and bottom heavy chugging riffs. This combination, while admittedly light in comparison to many of the heavier bands out there, still works quite well, and has more then its fair share of mayhem induced breakdowns which works well for the dancing crowd. Still, MMFAF are by no means a bubblegum crew, the sustained blasts of gnarled aggression here will attest to that. They are highly adept at what they do, and stand out to deliver anything outright memorable. There's a level of heart and talent, intrigue and creativity invested that makes it well worth being the soundtrack to your angst filled teenage life.
