Eoghan Neff

About Me

Eoghan Neff has recorded and toured to critical acclaim with such international productions as Riverdance, NeffBros, Anxo Lorenzo, Martin Tourish, and Fiddlesticks. His forthcoming release, Amalgamare, is an improvisation CD with organist and monk of Glenstal Abbey, Cyprian Love. It will be available within the next few weeks. He now lives in Madrid where he is currently working on various projects with an assortment of the finest musicians from the peninsula.
Archivist at the Irish Traditional Music Archive, Dublin, Eoghan is currently completing his PhD in music at Cardiff University. He has earned many prestigious awards at international level for both performance and academic work where he has already a number of publications in ethnomusicology and traditional music studies. He became the first recipient of the British Forum for Ethnomusicology Postgraduate Award in 2007. His areas of interest include improvisation, ergonomics, and the avant-garde.
The above track, Clockworx, is purely acoustic fiddle by Eoghan, performing a traditional Irish piece while accompanying himself across five tracks. It was recorded in 2003 as part of the NeffBros album, Each Other's Shadow.
The next track, A View to an Improvisation, is purely acoustic fiddle and cello performed by Eoghan and Adrian Curtin. This is an improvised piece inspired by a micro poem and musical fragment introduced by Adrian. It was recorded in 2005 as part of ongoing improvised collaborations between Eoghan and Adrian.
Further examples of Eoghan's performances are available on the following MySpace links below:
