Donovan George Pinnock was born on December 2, in the district of Victoria Town in the parish of Manchester, Jamaica. He first entered a studio for the first time in 1986 where he recorded his first song for producer Harry, who interestingly did not release his single. However his first releases were by a New York base producer Jah C in 1989, which included singles such as 'Must Ha Fi Get You', 'Twilight Zone', 'Do Me Baby' and 'Silver Bells', among few others. Over the past 11 years of his singing career he has done recording for a few other producers such as Philip Smart, King Jammy..s, Jah Life, Shelly and Dub Vendor, a London base producer who happen to be the producer of Dona V..s most recent hit, 'Prophecy Revealing'. He also appeared on a few compilation albums over the years which includes artists such as Dennis Brown, Sugar Minott and Freddie McGreggor. Dona V was recently introduced to the most foundational figure in the Reggae business, Sir Coxsone Dodd, in 1998. It was then where he finally decided to accept the offer of doing an album. Dona V has had so many things to say and now he is making sure that it..s been said on his debut album. His songs are all poetic messages and his mission is to speak to all areas mainly injustice, sufferation, loving thy brother like thyself and the beauty of falling in love. Dona V..s style of singing is obviously similar to his much admired singer Cocoa Tea and will not deny that fact. Nevertheless his original idols still remains the late great Dennis Brown and Delroy Wilson. - [email protected]
