Pa Tollbom

Per-Arne Tollbom, Drummer. Born in Gothenburg Dec. 1961.Started to play drums at the age of 14. Began working as a professional drummer at the age of 18 when joining various Funk and Afrobeat/Reagge-groups in the Gothenburg-Area. Playing local gigs and touring in Norway and Denmark. Vent to Musical College: Fridhems Folkhogskola between 1981-83. Joined the Swedish Jazzgroup WAIL in 1982, nominated to ”Swedish Jazzgroup of the Year” in 1985. Touring in Sweden and Europe until 1987. Joined Swedish Jazzgroup: ”GOOD VIBES” 1991 Began studies at Malmo University of Music 1990-92, studying drums with Lennart Gruvstedt and composing/arranging with Sten Ingelf. Also joining”Anders Bergkrantz Quintet” 1990 for a short period of time.Builded my own group: OFFSHORE SEXTET in 1992, touring in Sweden. Joining Swedish Jazzgroup ”INSIDE OUT” 1992-96. Joining pianoplayer MAGGI OLIN QUARTET 1994 and touring in US with guitarist Torben Waldorff’s NO BASS/Quartet 1996-2004 . Touring in Europe and recording with pianoplayer JAN LUNDGREN 1995-96 Touring and recording with Icelandic guitarplayer Bjorn Thoroddsen 1997.As a freelancer performing with: Tromboneplayers Rick vanLeer, Richard Boone, Bertil Strandberg, Sven Berggren. Pianoplayers Richard Beirach, Jan Lundgren, Tommy Kotter, Harald Svensson, Loic Dequidt, Daniel Tilling, Seppo Kantonen. Saxophonists Gary Thomas, Bob Rockwell, Tomas Frank, Cenneth Jonsson, Hans Ulrik, Ed Epstein, Karl-Martin Almqvist, Håkan Brostrom. Fredrik Kronkvist. Guitarplayers Rolf Nilsson, Ulf Vakenius, Anders Lindvall, Goran Klinghagen, Torben Waldorff. Trumpetplayers Ingrid Jensen, Anders Bergcrantz Magnus Broo, Roy Okutani. And many many other great musicians. Also active as a musicteacher on a regular basis since 2002.
