About Me

SEE-ARE has new album in the works Los Angeles, CA. – ElectRock act SEE ARE is busy putting together another album, the follow-up to the artist’s debut album “Summer Nights, Street Lights.” The sophomore album, titled "The Last Chance," will boast the melody-and-energy-laden single “Sweet Mercury.” The song started off as a lark. SEE ARE’s Chris Rogers witnessed the breaking of a thermometer in a sink and began to sing the words “Sweet Mercury.” From that moment of fun sprang a song – “It’s about a girl that you like, but you know you shouldn’t be with her because she just doesn’t treat you well,” says Rogers. The song’s title finds its significance in the girl’s zodiac sign. She’s a Gemini, and, as Roger explains, “The ruling planet of Gemini is Mercury – yeah, oddly enough, I’m into that stuff.” “Sweet Mercury” takes a core of pop punk/indie rock and infuses it with a touch of synth elements that obliquely reference new wave. It’s a convergence of trends in indie rock – with punk influenced rock and new wave both making big splashes in the current music scene – but SEE ARE’s music is anything but another trend follower. Strong songwriting, finely crafted melodies and unique aural textures stemming from the crisp-meets-crunch of the guitar and the electronic elements – not to mention SEE ARE’s just plain unique, quick witted personality – all make for music that sets the bar rather than riding coattails. SEE ARE is Rogers’ solo project. At one time, it was a side project for Rogers, who was at the time playing rhythm guitar in a band. With the break-up of that group, Rogers was free to make his side project his main project. Now he focuses his full artistic attention on creating SEE ARE’s music in his home studio. Rogers warns that fans may have a longish wait for the new album. “I’m taking my time with this one. It’s going to be much better!” While the music on his first release showed the same songwriting and performance prowess, Rogers was not entirely happy with the production for “Summer Nights, Street Lights.” “SNSL was before I went to recording school. I’m a little disappointed in the quality of some songs on there. Now that I know what I’m doing, things are going to sound much cleaner.” In future, Rogers looks to change SEE ARE’s status from a solo act to a full band lineup. He is currently working with A&R Select, the world’s leading independent artist development firm, based out of Los Angeles, CA.
