Ameer
When front man Ameer was forced to make the move from Manchester to Slough for college he knew one thing - he needed a band, fast. On his second day in he met Peg (Andrew Smith, Drummer), and the two were jamming immediately. About a week later the two of them met bassist Dan who was showing off to a couple of viewers to the school and the three spent the whole night jamming to the likes of Symphony of Destruction among others. Little did any of them know that classically trained guitarist in the next room (Imran, Lead/Rhythm guitar) was playing guitar by himself and that soon all four would meet to provide live music for a performance of the hit musical Tommy by The Who.
Since playing the Tommy show, the band have found their sound in the grimy rehearsal studios of Langley Guitar Centre and continue to write and play music there. It was within those poorly soundproofed walls that the tracks “Alive†and “Hole above my head†were first conceived - the former being almost a party rock track with hints of metal, , and the latter being a hard rock track in the vein of old school G’n’R and Metallica. Soon after the band were offered several slots at E-Bar in Slough, before recording their first demo in February 2007 since the bands humble beginnings playing Tommy.
Since making the first demo, Armatool has entered and won Battle of the Bands London 2007 in May, for the Nelson Mandela Trust, and wrote 3 new tunes which were recorded at Studio 7K in January 2008 (where the original demos recorded were re-recorded and three new tunes where also recorded).
The band believe that their sound makes up the gap between Hard rock, Thrash and Melody, writing old school style songs based on riffs with a modern edge.
we believe that a lot of metal bands are coming from American and Sweden but there aren’t many heavy metal bands coming from England, we feel this should change after all we invented heavy metal!
we are now planning to play as many shows as possible to promote ourselves and get heard by as many people as possible.
NOTICE TO ALL, ANYONE THAT PROMOTES US IN ANYWAY WILL RECIEVE MUCHO RECOGNITION FROM EVERYONE IN THE BAND AND A FREE TIE DIED SOCK!
i finally got it! The Tommy Solos. although they may take some time to process
