ELECTRO-FLAMENKO

About Me

Electro-Flamenko is a multicultural band which involves the collaboration of musicians, dancers and visual artists from Spain, Latino America and UK based in the North East of England. Its members provide a transnational blend of tradition and modernity to create a unique cosmopolitan experience

Band History: Spanish and Latino American posgraduates music students at Newcastle University, Paco Bethencourt and Chesco Sologuren, began by working together in the project "Electro Flameko". They won the first prize for original recording and the compositions where performed at the VAMOS!! Festival in July 2006. After a successful series of performances, they decided to collaborate with flamenco dancers Carolina Urrutia and Vanna, which flourished into a unique conceptual project involving VJ Ali who provides a live visual backdrop to the performances. Spanish singer, María Martinez, was teamed up with UK rapper "Boogie Be" to provide the vocal frontline. David de la Haye, Pete Morris and Jeremy Bradfield were brough on electric bass and percussion in to back it all up. That completed the line-up for Electro-Flamenko

Sounds Like: Beat-based Flamenco........ A brand new sound created by the band itself. It includes traditional and new flamenco influences along with post Rock that go beyond transnational borders. I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
