Speedtwins

Speedtwins is a cult punk/rock/new wave band from holland who were active during the late 70ies and early 80ies .The band started as a hardcore punkrock band ,in the end of 1977,made an album,ït's more fun to compete""and did a tour with the sexpistols..they also released a single ,the who classic 'my generation'...line up in those days included Nico Groen on drums,Leen Barbier on guitar,JodieDaniel /vocals,Vera Groen on vocals and Jackie on bass..With this line up the second single '''Football song''was released in spring 78.In the summer of 1978 the line up changed and the songs and sound changed into a (hard) rocking kind of music ..Line up then included a.o. Carlo van Rijswijk on drums,Mike van Dalm,bass ..soon to be followed up by Theo Outhuise on drums and Ton van Rossum on bass,,on guitar in that period Peter Presser..With this line up the single Blackmail was released.....Spring 1979 Frank N stein joined the band at first on bass, but soon took over the guitar with Erwin(Ernie Wallbanger)de Ruiter now on bass,and joined Jodie in writing the songs which had an effect on the music style again,turning slowly but surely into a more new wave /pop kind of sound..this formation played on the album dedicated to the vietnamese boat refugees,released in 1980 including (amongs others )the songs Midnight and Wounded,and produced the single Obssesion/Sideshow the same year,as a band called the Name...Around 1982 Theo left the band and the first drummer of the speedtwins (Nico Groen)rejoined the group to perform on the album lost efforts,which wasnever released......A short while before that ,,calling themselves ''Voices''two songs from the album were released as a single ,,Rainbow kid /Midnight.and a videofilm was shot with six tracks taken from that album...with that material Jodie had already signed a precontract in the U.S ,but fate decided differently.....and so the story of the Speedtwins founder J. Daniel ended with another unforseen twist of karma .,,, some stupid motorcycle accident....this site is an effort to keep jodie's spirit and lyrics alive and a official Speedtwins site is now under construction,with most of the songs written by him and his fellow musicians...most of this songs are already to be heard on : http://www.speedtwins.com/index.php and some more wil be on there in a short while!!!!
