About Me

Puzzled as the oyster. MyGen Profile Generator

My Interests

Tea, yoga, 1950's clothing, burlesque, learning to play my guitar, dancing, walking up big hills on sunny days, writing, knitting, playing with my cat, Ayurvedic medicine and philosophy, anything that grabs me at the time. Marvell comics. I like to paint, but I'm not much cop, and I like to sing, but I'm even worse. So you might not ever see that side of me.

I'd like to meet:

You. And you. Oh, and you. Not you though, you smell.

Music:

If it's good I probably like it. If it's bad, depends how bad. Because if it's bad enough, I'll probably like it. At the moment playing Test Icicles, Gene, The Coral, Screaming Trees, Bowie, The Velvet Underground, Nina Simone, Tim Buckley, MFF, PJ Harvey, Charizma and PB Wolf, Freq Nasty, Pantera, Love/Hate, The Pharcyde, David Holmes and Handel. And a bit of Dusty, just for good measure. At best you could call me eclectic. - Check out Whipcord, if you don't like them, sue me (I've already warned you about my musical preferences)

Movies:

The Inn of the Sixth Happiness. Casablanca. Memento. Cool Hand Luke. It Happened One Night. Carve Her Name With Pride. Old Boy. One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest. Gone With The Wind. Reservoir Dogs. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. The Crow. The Red Shoes. Rebecca. Betty Blue. Badly dubbed kung fu films. Mostly old movies, not necessarily the one's with happy endings.

Television:

Quincy, Monk, Petrocelli, Murder She Wrote, Ironside, Cagney and Lacey, Poirot, Sherlock Holmes, Starsky and Hutch, Quantum Leap. And old Star Trek.

Books:

should be read. I like Hanif Kureishi and Jack Kerouac. I like the freedom and honesty of Henry Miller and Anais Nin. Norman Mailer is a genius. Breath, Eyes, Memory by Edwidge Danticat. Jean Rhys is probably the most amazing writer I know. And Edgar Allan Poe. And I love Frankenstein and Dracula. And the Picture of Dorian Gray. For poetry Grace Nichols and Ted Hughes. I confess a minor love of Christopher Paolini's Eragon books, and hate the fact that he's 2 years younger than I am. Top three books ever: Not Now Bernard, Horton Hatches the Egg, and The Perfect Hamburger. And Stig of the Dump...

Heroes:

My mum. Myself. And spiderman. He's cool.

The Princess and the Frog

Once upon a time, there was a frog. The frog was a happy frog. The frog lived in a big pond, in a big garden, next to a big stone house. The frog liked to eat flies, and hop, and swim. The frog liked...

Once again, it seems I have made myself ill through drinking. Over the last month I have been drinking. Oh boy have I. Drinking is good for my soul, but my body... Well, they've never seen eye to eye....

Drivel

Why do people read this nonsense? I do not believe people are genuinely interested in what goes on in my tired little brain, and yet far too many people are reading this. I checked. The numbers don't ...

Random thoughts that strolled into my head as I strolled to work

I walked into town this morning, singing along to myself. And I didn't recognise the songs I was singing. I think they must be mine. Maybe I will share them once my guitar and I get over the awkwardne...
