IF YOU HAVE ANY PICTURES FROM ANY EVENTS WE WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF YOU WOULD SEND THEM TO US SO WE CAN POST THEM!!
It's getting too hard to list everyone who's helped out individually because there's so many of you. So thank you to everyone who's helped DAG! There wouldn't be a DAG without you!
D.A.G. is a grassroots organization whose main goal is to raise money for emergency food and water, sanitation, health, nutrition, education, and livelihood programs needed by the refugees in Darfur. All of the money raised by D.A.G. will be donated to the World Vision Organization.
For the past four years, the non-Baggara people in the Darfur region of Sudan have been brutally massacred by the Janjaweed tribe because of their race. The Janjaweed kill every non-Baggara male adult they find. The women are raped or kidnapped to become sex slaves. After attacking a village, the Janjaweed militia burns it to the ground along with any crops or livestock they find. The terrorized survivors, women and children, are left on their own to find their way to a refugee camp on foot, which could take days. Victims end up living in ramshackle huts in numerous camps along the edge of the Sahara whose troops are so outnumbered by the Janjaweed they are practically defenseless. As many as 10,000 people have died monthly since the genocide began, largely due to preventable disease and hunger in the overcrowded camps, which hold over two million homeless refugees. Many refugees die from lack of food, clean water, medical care, clothing, and shelter. Because of the poor camp defense, killings and sexual assaults are rampant. The Sudanese government, while publicly denying that it supports the Janjaweed, has provided arms and assistance and has participated in joint attacks with the group. However, the government does allow the U.N. and other organizations to help supply medical care and other necessities to the refugee camps, therefore efforts to help the refugees are not in vain.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DIRECTLY DONATE TO WORLD VISION ORGANIZATION, you can go to this page and it will give you all the information you need on how to donate to the Darfur situation.
