Spending time with my husband, Gene, cooking, traveling, reading, yoga, anything creative - sewing, building things, metal smithing...nature stuff and animals. Playing Scrabble with my hubby (even though he hates it). Our bad dogs: Finnegan and Lulu. Loving my nephews - Tristan, Evan and Shane. The fertilizer in their food must be working because they get bigger and smarter everyday.
Tom Waits, Tom Robbins, Bill Clinton (face to face...we chatted once on the phone, thanks Josh!), Ron Paul, The Dali Lama, Al Gore, K.D. Lang, Jon Stewart...so many more!Know your options and the voter regulations for the presidential primary in your state. Vote for Ron Paul in 2008!
Tom Waits, Rob Thomas, Johnny Cash, KT Tunstall, KD Lang, Sarah McLachlan, Train, Darren Nicholson, Balsam Range, Crook & The Flare City 5, Nickelback, Lyle Lovett. I am totally inconsistant in this area.
The Queen, Stranger Than Fiction, Little Miss Sunshine, What The Bleep Do We Know?, An Inconvenient Truth (please see this movie, it is eye opening), Walk the Line, Oh, Brother! Where Art Thou?, The Matrix, Legally Blonde (guilty pleasure!), The Princess Bride, Being There, 50 First Dates, Signing Times (the first one, before that woman became all hip), Hot Fuzz.
TV is all consuming so we ditched it - but I did enjoy Friends, Medium and My name is Earl when we were watching. And if i could not sleep - I will watch Law & Order until my eyes fall out. I've watched Ugly Betty on line and I love it!
Anything by Tom Robbins, David Sedaris or Carl Hiaasen....funny, twisted individuals. Any anti-Martha Stewart wanna-bes...read Amy Sedaris' I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence. All the info you need to be a "great" hostess and more...oh, so much more. Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri - GREAT short stories (although The Namesake was sort of disappointing). Travel books like A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson and Travels with my Donkey by Tim Moore...very funny stuff. I love finding a good cookbook - The Joy of Cooking (1997 edition) is amazing and could easily teach the most pathetic cook how to prepare a wonderful meal. Barefoot Contessa in Paris, The King Arthur Flour Baker's Companion...and too many more to mention. Otherwise, I find it hard to find great books - always willing to take a suggestion, but I cannot stand Stephen King-type, over descriptive stuff...please leave SOMETHING up to my imagination for the love of God. I must go to the library one a week - we have the best one in NC!
