Natural Life Started out as a three piece band playing their 1st gig in either a church hall or at a party in a living room/kitchen. A little later Shovel and Liggy joined the band, they were playing together at a club called 'eat the worm "[at least i believe they were) and a little before that time sid and mark joined on drums and bass respectively. Natural life's 1st break came with a slot with the classic indie band 'the farm" on which they won rave reviews. (excuse the bad pun!!) They quickly were signed to hollywood records (a division of disney) and their record advance cheque had a picture mickey mouse on it. they went into the studio and recorded their début album which was an interesting mix of styles which really opened the way for bands such as déjà vu and the spin doctors?!? . there 1st single strange world was voted single of the week in the n.m.e and there 2nd single hit the uk charts at about 42. they played on u. k tv show "the word" pretty soon afterwards one of the original members ray left due to personal reasons, the band got a new keyboard player in a guy called Hakan (ill edit the spelling later) and they played glastonbury 92. pretty soon after the band split.shovell went on to drum for m people and to host his own tv show. john spong went on to work with franck alba and play the lizard festival in cornwall. Hakan is still making wonderful Turkish music and ray was managing one of the cast from the uk soap eastenders in his band.i would like to dedicate this page in loving memory to mick hibbs who sadly passed away 2 years ago. he was the bands driver roadie, and mentor:) a great friend to the band a to my family. i hope you are hanging out with zappa now mate!! jamming 'Willie the pimp" together.
