From his early experiences with music, Adam's analytical abilities complemented the musical intuition that has come to be a hallmark in his artistic life. He began studying classical music at age five, and was later apprenticed under legendary jazz violinist Claude "Fiddler" Williams. His adolescent years involved singing, songwriting, and playing guitar in alternative rock and punk bands until he found a new passion in folk roots music, bluegrass, and progressive string bands. Adam continued his Jazz Violin studies at the revolutionary Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA, a ground base for contemporary music, in 1999 and 2000 and toured Europe with a classical orchestra in his early college days.
After college he blended his classical training, alternative rock and progressive string band experiences into an unconventional career both as a free-lance musician and private music instructor. He has performed big stages with David Grisman, Hot Buttered Rum, White Water Ramble, the Jayme Stone Quartet, and the Grant Gordy Quartet. In 2003 he performed a showcase at the prestigious International Bluegrass Musicians Association with the now defunct Santa Cruz-based bluegrass boys, Strung Over.
Recently Adam played fiddle on the collaborative project of banjo-playing composer Jayme Stone’s 2008 Juno Award winning Instrumental Album of the Year in Canada, titled “The Utmostâ€. The Utmost is a cutting edge experimental musical ride that bridges jazz, bluegrass and everything in between.
Adam’s signature style and soul-felt jazz improvisation, his passion and involvement playing eclectic folk roots music and bluegrass jams with inspiring artists, alongside his life-long musical journey has awarded him thus far many adventures and national recognition of his brilliance as a string musician.
Within Adam’s musical adventures playing venues throughout the front-range and nationwide he also offers private music instruction for individuals interested in violin/fiddle, mandolin, and guitar. His Denver based studio is active as he shares his experience with over twenty students ranging from all ages and skill levels. Lessons with Adam incorporate more than just fundamentals and technical studies, as students envelop a broader sense of culture and history, music appreciation, and awareness.
