Greta McEneaney was born in Preston, Lancashire,UK in 1984. When she was at high school she discovered her love for the arts. She then continued her education at Preston College to study AVCE Art and Design, of which consisted of many subjects such textiles, fashion, graphics and specialized in the area she enjoyed the most; Photography.
From 2003-2004 she wanted to focus on Photography itself and gain more confidence and knowledge of the tool, so studied a City and Guilds Level 2 in Photography.
The passion for the subject continued further on to higher education and moved to Blackpool to study Photography at Blackpool and the Fylde College. During her time there she learnt a great deal about art theory and how to read an image. She gained plenty of knowledge about using digital cameras and digital computer effects. Greta has enjoyed the journey of finding her creative strengths and weaknesses while working to her own written briefs.
Greta has assisted a wedding photographer, and enjoyed the challenge and pressure of capturing images that will hold precious memories of others on that special day. She has also had experience working for herself photographing weddings and once was commissioned to photograph the opening of local pharmacy. She worked in a photographic studio, learning how to design and put together a wedding storybook and the best ways to promote a business. She had the opportunity to shoot a family portrait in the studio, experimenting with lighting, poses and backdrops.
Every year at the Harris Museum and gallery in Preston Greta enters the open exhibition, this being a great opportunity to display and sell her work locally.
