Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at the University of New Mexico, concentrations in Latin American politics and international political economy. My dissertation is entitled "Transnational Advocacy and Labor Rights Enforcement in Less-developed States" and examines US policy of extending trade benefits contingent on respect for labor rights. It includes analysis of the US GSP system, in-depth study of the NAFTA labor side agreement, and comparison of four cases of independent union organizing in garment maquilas in Puebla, Mexico.
