I enjoy spanking monkeys
The nanobots that will allow me to live to see the year 2100 and John Galt
Duh....Mostly indie I suppose. The Shins, The Decemberists, Postal Service, The Beta Band, Modest Mouse, Sufjan Stevens, British Sea Power, Arcade Fire, Band of Horses, Bright Eyes, The Futureheads, Neutral Milk Hotel, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Dresden Dolls, Yo La Tengo, Wilco, The Flaming Lips, etc... Also Pixies, Belle and Sebastian, Portishead, Pavement, Octopus Project, Aphex Twin, White Stripes, Cranberries, Radiohead, Man or Astroman, Stereolab, Fiona Apple, Beck, Bjork, Gun's N' Roses, Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, NIN, Marilyn Manson, Butthole Surfers, Pink Floyd (my favorite), Nirvana, Floggin' Molly, and such. The cheesy classics, Beatles, Neil Diamond (kiss my ass), Iggy Pop, Johnny Cash, The Who, Led Zepplin, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane (not starship), Beach Boys, 60's pop, 80's pop, etc.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas would have to be my favorite (if you couldn't tell already) as are other "drug culture" movies such as Trainspotting and Requiem for a Dream. South Park(the movie) is the funniest thing ever. Almost any Tarantino, Coen Brothers, Guy Ritchie, Kubrick, or Burton films. I'm a huge sucker for the fantasy genre. Krull, the Labrynth, Princess Bride, Legend, Willow, Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Neverending Story, Star Wars(original), Lord of the Rings, Pan's Labrynth, etc. Love the japanime. Foreign new/classics (Run Lola Run, Amelie, City of God). Monty Python movies and Mel Brooks always make me laugh. Napoleon Dynamite....whoa. The Jackass movies and Borat. 80's movies (Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Fastimes at Ridgemont High, etc.) I'm starting to go back and watch more classics (Gone With The Wind, Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon...Net Flix is great for this). Indiana Jones Trilogy (i had a crush like everyone my age). Did I mention mafia movies? There are many others but you get the point.
Unless the reality show features descriptive plastic surgery or dates that turn into pathetic bouts of name calling, I'm not interested. I love the cartoon comedies. Family Guy, Simpsons, King of the Hill, South Park, Futurama, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sea Lab, Harvey Birdman, Ren and Stimpy, and more I'm sure. Curb your enthusiasm, Kids in the Hall, Malcolm in the middle, and my name is earl ("snap") are always worth watching. I did love this show from the 80's with Shelley Duvall called Faerie Tale Theatre but only my brother and I seem to remember it. Penn and Tellers Bullshit on showtime is a blast and I can't take my eyes away from The Sopranos.
Anything Chuck Palahniuk, Alexandre Dumas, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Jean Auel, Elmore Leonard, Hunter S. Thompson, etc. Stefan Zweig's "Beware of Pity" was wonderful as was "The Exodus" by Leon Uris. Aldous Huxley's "Doors of Perception, Heaven and Hell" and "Brave New World"('that has such people in it'). I think my favorite is "Watership Down"(yes, the one with the talking rabbits). Mario Puzo's "the Godfather", "Lord of the Flies", "Papillon" by Henri Charriere, all of Tolkien, Terry Goodkind's fantasy novels, etc. "Freakonomics" is hilarious. "1984" and "Animal Farm" by Orwell, though everyone says that. Just finished "Stranger in a Strange Land" by Robert A. Heinlein. And even though he can't end a damn book, I still have to read everything by Stephen King. "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand.
He-man and She-ra...that's about it. Not too much of a hero worshipper.
