About Me

I created my layout at KillerKiwi.net First experiences of dance culture was when acid house and the whole illegal rave scene moved into hardcore music. Roaming around the south coast in search of the next rave to go to led to a love for dance music and a need to be part of the scene.Initially purchasing hardcore music, this swiftly moved into break beats (early jungle music) and Hijack became a drum and bass DJ with inspirations being a mixture of all the genres that drum and bass had divided, with LTJ Bukem on the progressive side, Grooverider with the more dark edge and DJ Hype’s jump up style. In the late 90’s, drum and bass events were not as frequent as they had been in the past. UK garage reared its head and was made popular by the Artful Dodger’s chart success. Although continuing to play drum and bass, Hijack started buying garage music. Pete Devereux and Mark Hill of Artful Dodger found Hijack whilst looking for warm up dj’s for their new night at the Rhino club in Southampton appropriately named ‘Rewind’ where they were performing with then up and coming singer Craig David. Rewind's successful garage night ran for years before the numbers noticeably dropped and the music policy switched to predominantly r’’n’b, hip hop and dancehall. Rewind remains the place to be in Southampton eight years on with Hijack as weekly resident. For the last 6 years, Hijack has been renowned as an urban turntablist, cutting and scratching all types of urban music around the South, London and abroad. He has now formed relationships with Polydor and Sony/BMG and became part of the Sony/BMG street team.Hijack also has a recording studio and works with ex-Def Jam artist Aaron Soul, unsigned artist Pandaman, and his wife, Baby Shar (recently signed to Universal). Most of the beats he makes are hip-hop or r'n'b, but he experiments with other genres also. He recently collaborated with Liverpool based Urbeatz and Young Kof on a track called ‘Rollin’.
