Electronic like Boards of Canada, Autechre, The Album Leaf, Telefon Tel Aviv. Noisy stuff like System of a Down, Manson and Einstürzende Neubauten. BIG sound stuff like Pink Floyd. Ambient like Eno, Klaus Schulze and the amazing Hamonic Choir. Else stuff like PJ Harvey, Porcupine Tree, Flaming Lips, Karate, Foo Fighters, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers.... I could just keep going. There are luckily SO much good music in the world.
Movies:
ohh crap... Don't get me started... The VERY short list in no paticular order would be. Donnie Darko, Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive, Blade Runner, The Godfather Trilogy (just saw it again, damn good), The Corporation, 12 Angry Men, M, Potemkin, almost anything by the Coen Brothers, The Incredibles, The Third Man, Megacities, Akira, anything by Hayao Miyazaki, Goodfellas and Being John Malkovich. But also stuff like LOTR, the original Star Wars and Alien, That should give you an idea.

hm... People like Howard Zinn who by the shear force of there intellect just might change the world. Or Mark Achbar, Jennifer Abbott and Joel Bakan for making the movie "The Coporation" that changed my world. :-)
