About Me

Music is my first love, many things spark my interest, but I'm sure my fellow artists/musician friends will relate when I say that: when you are born with music and that certain sensitivity chip in your heart, the urge and the passion are always there. Even though at times we might feel other things are more important, music and the freedom of expression it allows become that silver lining among the routine and the predictable atmosphere life often brings.I always remember being surrounded by music, I was lucky that both sides of my family enjoyed and appreciated artistic expression whether I was with my dad's All-American side of my family ( Mabry ) enjoying some country music played by my cousins guitar or whether I was with my mom's Latin/Mexican side of my family ( Rodriguez ) enjoying the gracious sounds of my grandparents' voices and the tender sounds of an acoustic guitar, I always felt the happiest and the most at peace with my surroundings when I had music near me and when I was singing.I remember my mom buying vinyl records and tapes and it was my favorite gift to receive, I think my old Menudo and Timbiriche vinyl records are still at my grandma's house.?? lol I will always have a soft spot for big stereos, vinyl records and cassette tapes, and even cd's now since they are also becoming obsolete, I go back in time anytime I see them.My grandfather first saw me singing along to the song "Only You" by the The Platters and was amazed at how well I could carry a tune for a 5 year old, lolI was too shy to sing at family gatherings at first, but soon my mom gave me enough encouragement to join the local choir at my elementary school in Deer Park, Texas. I absolutely enjoyed my classical training in music and all my achievements during my time in the school choir, I continued with music all through high school and was always active in musical activities, as well as in writing and theatre. I've taken my time to find myself musically. My years spent as the lead female vocalist of a cover band taught me alot about connecting with an audience. I will always remember summer days spent with music friends at my local art school just jamming and hanging out. By also attempting to be a songwriter, (although I would never claim that title,) I must admit that I feel the most comfortable singing my own words and giving life to emotions that come straight from my soul which then find themselves on a piece of paper. For me a song is as personal as it gets, as the saying goes, "when words fail , music speaks" and it's the truth!....Writing my own songs is my healing process I find it therapeutic and amazing knowing that these are thoughts that would have otherwise remained inside my mind, but thanks to the magic that is music, I can take some emotions out of that deep myterious box we all carry inside and share it with the universal energy that I feel connected to.I hope you enjoy my songs as much as I enjoyed writing them : )Amor y Paz VBlessingsLinda Mabry ~*

Influences: My Grandparents, their varied musical taste was indicative of the open minded people they are, they exposed me to alot of great music, I love the music sensibility that was inside their soul and how on any given day I could find my grandfather singing and playing his acoustic guitar on the front porch or at family gatherings. My grandmother has a beautiful voice and I was always amazed at how emotions poured out of her while she was singing as she cooked for all us with so much love. She is almost 90 and still going strong.Gloria Estefan she was one of the first women to expose Latin music to the world, she has a great voice and I love her songwriting style. She is a true diva in every sense of the word.Mariah Carey, not only for her obvious angelic voice and incredible singing ability but for her heartfelt lyrics and how she is always herself no matter what people say.Gwen Stefani, for always pushing boundaries and not being afraid to try something new.Norah Jones, Corinne Bailey Rae, Diana Krall, for showing that you don't always have to shake your ass or be a great dancer to showcase your art on stage.Alejandro Sanz, he is a singing poet he just writes what comes from his soul his songs are complicated yet simple at the same time, it's like he exposes a piece of him with every song the way he can arrange his voice, the melodies and lyrics of his songs is beautifulLuis Miguel he's a natural talent and he brought boleros back and showed everyone that the classics are always cool.Frank Sinatra-the way he could carry a song and the passion yet sweetness in his voice is unparalledWOW ! so many people, it would be impossible to name them all but here are a few more...LOLThe Bee Gees, The Beatles, Vikki Carr, The Dixie Chicks, Nirvana, Coldplay, Green Day, James Taylor, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Barry Manilow, Marron 5, Kelly Clarkson, El Trio Los Panchos, Michael Buble, Tony Bennett, Celia Cruz, Nat King Cole,The Platters, Earth Wind and Fire, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Brian McKinght, Damien Rice, Edwin McCain, Babyface, Boys II Men, Biggie, Tupac, John Legend, Enanitos Verdes, Aterciopelados, Camila, Reik, U2, Avril Lavigne, James Blunteverything really...loland of course my emotions and my life are always an influence in my writing and what I have to say, that being said I admire everyone who can just express herself/himself no matter what people think, it is only when we are true to ourselves that we can connect to that magic inside of us that we are all born with but sometimes don't see.....
Sounds Like: Myself...and well, you tell me!
