Treehouse is an independent member owned and volunteer run Community Interest Company.

We exist to provide affordable good food and Treehouse is also home to the Bradford Centre for Nonviolence.

Wherever possible we use organic, fairly-traded and locally sourced produce in the café, and gave ourselves a funky eco-refit before we opened….the floor tiles upstairs are Fair Trade and handmade in Cambodia – look out for the animal and leaf prints! Most of the paint is organic (from Ecos) or ‘recycled’ (from Community Repaint), and the wooden furniture was made especially for us by TrunkReclaimed, from a recycled school science bench, old floor-joists and a former army barracks (swords into ploughshares, almost!). We also compost and recycle all we can.

Almost everyone working here is a volunteer – their energy and commitment means that we don’t have to compromise the ethical sourcing of our ingredients. This also ensures that our income can be help support other projects within Treehouse, such as our children’s peace library, where we have a regular storytelling session, at 11 o’clock on the first Saturday of every month.

In the future, we hope to develop other projects and events informed by nonviolent philosophy. For now, we offer space for community groups to meet or organise events (for hire or ‘in kind’) and we offer ethical catering for meetings or events.

If you are interested in becoming a member (or volunteering!) please get in touch. Members are vital to Treehouse – collectively we own it and we run it. If you like what we do, please join us, and have a stake in how we run.

Thankyou very much for your support. We hope you enjoy Treehouse!
