About Me

Hello! Thank you for stopping by!

Now, to the writing: Nominated by the Mystery Writers of America for an Edgar for best short story (Ruth Rendell won), I've had innumerable short mysteries published. ("Innumerable" means that I lost count.)
Also I wrote weekly humor columns for two newspapers in MD for 23 years.
They were "Annie's World" and "Utter Chaos."
People are impressed by the mystery stories. It's far more difficult to write humor, especially with a twice-weekly deadline. As someone famous once said as he lay dying, "Dying is easy. Comedy is hard." (Actually he's famous just for saying that.)
Oh, and I almost forgot to say, my twin sister writes GREAT children's stories!

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Richard Dawkins

("WE ARE GOING TO DIE, AND THAT MAKES US THE LUCKY ONES. MOST PEOPLE ARE NEVER GOING TO DIE BECAUSE THEY ARE NEVER GOING TO BE BORN. THE POTENTIAL PEOPLE WHO COULD HAVE BEEN HERE IN MY PLACE BUT WHO WILL IN FACT NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY OUTNUMBER THE SAND GRAINS OF ARABIA. CERTAINLY THOSE UNBORN GHOSTS INCLUDE GREATER POETS THAN KEATS, SCIENTISTS GREATER THAN NEWTON. WE KNOW THIS BECAUSE THE SET OF POSSIBLE PEOPLE ALLOWED BY OUR DNA SO MASSIVELY EXCEEDS THE SET OF ACTUAL PEOPLE. IN THE TEETH OF THESE STUPEFYING ODDS IT IS YOU AND I, IN OUR ORDINARINESS, THAT ARE HERE. AFTER SLEEPING THROUGH A HUNDRED MILLION CENTURIES WE HAVE FINALLY OPENED OUR EYES ON A SUMPTUOUS PLANET, SPARKING WITH COLOR, BOUNTIFUL WITH LIFE. WITHIN DECADES WE MUST CLOSE OUR EYES AGAIN...WHO, WITH SUCH A THOUGHT, WOULD NOT SPRING FROM BED, EAGER TO RESUME DISCOVERING THE WORLD AND REJOICING TO BE A PART OF IT?)
Sam Harris, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Stephen Hawking. I was fortunate that I got to meet Isaac Asimov (he was one of my editors).=================================================== ========
Your Quirk Factor: 68%
You're so quirky, it's hard for you to tell the difference between quirky and normal.
No doubt about it, there's little about you that's "normal" or "average." How Quirky Are You?
