DJ TAKU HIRAYAMA - Biography (English)
Taku Hirayama is known locally and internationally as a freestyle DJ who plays versatile quality music for many fields.
He stepped into the club jazz scene in Fukuoka, Japan in sometime late 90’s.
With the whole jazz and electronic music scene seeing a crossover, he also naturally progressed with this and started to appreciate some more electronic based sounds.
With his DJ career taking off in 2000, he was offered a residency at a local club named "Kieth Flack" in Fukuoka where he was given the opportunity to show his hometown what fusion of sound is really about.
Initially during his residency, he focussed on jazz and brazilian music but enriched and widened the spectrum of sound to include nu-jazz, broken beats, deep house, soulful house, disco, funk, soul, middle school hiphop, underground hiphop, breakbeats, drumn’ bass, ambient, chill out... mostly everything to create a soundscape that people really could move to.
His sets was based on the fact he covered so many styles and created a journey through sound.
With such his diverse of music selection, he had played at many clubs and bars also had many supporting act for domestic or international guest DJs.
Eventually, he had been influenced with more electronic music including disco dub, electro, tech house, deep techno and started to change his playing style.
And it was about the same time when he relocated himself from Japan to Hong Kong in end of 2006.
He has been getting new inspiration from this wild and chaotic city and the people of many different walks of life, which is now reflected to and further enhancing his wide spectrum as freestyle DJ.
He has played at many clubs, bars, restaurants that include "Yumla" "Volar" "Dragon-i" "M1NT" "Drop" "Heat" "Buddha Lounge" "Linq" "Goccia" "En Grill and Bar LKF" "The Ashtray" "Zaza" "Where" as well as some fashion brand's party for "Silly Thing" "BAPE" "I.T." "Joyce".
And also played at the renowned "Power Station Beach" on Lamma Island.
The Hong Kong punters are definitely getting down to the sound that he creates with such madness.
In 2008, he belonged to a dj booking agency and contributed to connect music scene between Japan and Hong Kong as both of DJ and promoter.
And also was invited himself as guest DJ to play in Okinawa and Kobe, Japan in this year, 2009.
Now he keeps working himself as freelance DJ and also had a huge success as promoter of "Asian Force" which was held in Fukuoka in this July and featured DJs from HK.

様々な音楽が既にクロスオーヴァーを始めて いた90年代後半のClub Jazzシーンに衝撃を受け、2000å¹´é ƒã‚ˆã‚Šåœ°å…ƒç¦å ²¡ã®ã‚¯ãƒ©ãƒ–・Kieth Flackを中心にDJ活動を開始する。
Jazz、Brazilといった生音のグルーヴからNu-Jazzã €Broken Beats、Deep Houseといったダンスミュージック、更にはUnde rground Hip Hopã‚„Drumn’Bassまで様々な音楽に影響を受けて いくうちに、多くのクラブやパーティーでプ レイするようになり、国内海外のゲストDJ・㠂¢ãƒ¼ãƒ†ã‚£ã‚¹ãƒˆã®ã‚µãƒãƒ¼ãƒˆã‚¢ã‚¯ãƒˆã‚‚ジャンル問㠂ãšå¤šæ•°å‹™ã‚ã‚‹ã€‚
それ以降Disco Dub、Electro、Tech Houseといった、よりエレクトロニックなダン㠂¹ãƒŸãƒ¥ãƒ¼ã‚¸ãƒƒã‚¯ã«é­…äº†ã•ã‚Œãƒ—ãƒ¬ã‚¤ã‚¹ã‚¿ã‚¤ãƒ«ãŒå ¾ã€…に変化して行く中、2006年の秋より拠点を 香港に移すことになる。 現在は香港という、ありとあらゆる人種が混 在するカオスな大都市での生活から新たなイ ンスピレーションを受け、更に視野を広げた 独自の感覚でフリースタイルDJとしてジャン㠃«ãƒ¬ã‚¹ã«éŸ³ã‚’追求し続けている。
これまでに"Volar" "Dragon-i" "M1NT" "Zaza" "Buddha Lounge" "Linq" "En Grill and Bar LKF" "The Ashtray" "where" といった様々なクラブ・バー・レストランや 、"Silly Thing" "BAPE" "I.T." "Joyce"などのファッションブランドのパーテ゠£ãƒ¼ã§ã‚‚数多くプレイ。また香港のパーティム¼ãƒ•ãƒªãƒ¼ã‚¯ã®ä¸­ã§ã¯ã‚‚はや伝説化しているLamma Island Power Plant Beachでのマッドなパーティーでもプレイして㠁„る。
2008年以降はDJブッキングエージェントとして も日本と香港・アジアのシーンの交流に務め 、今年2009年は沖縄、神戸にもゲストDJとして 招聘されプレイしている。
また今年7月には地元福岡で開催された"Asian Force"のプロモーターとしても香港のDJを率い㠁¦å¤§æˆåŠŸã‚’納めるなど、今後の活動にも注目㠁Œé›†ã¾ã‚‹ã€‚
