Get this video and more at MySpace.comMy Life, as an Entertainer, Began in the year 1990. Gosh, that seems like a lifetime ago, when I think about it now. This is how it all happened for meâ€Â¦ I was fresh out of high school and looking for a place I fit in. Oddly enough I was thumbing thru the Yellow Pages, letting my fingers do the walking, and I came across the Gay and Lesbian Hotline. I went to the letter “Gâ€? right away. I knew I was gay and I needed to find my people. I knew I couldn’t be the only one in this town that was a big Fag. They, the G&L hotline, did all they could to try and get me involved in different Gay organizations that would be best for me. Looking back I should have looked into the organizations more, but all I wanted to do was meet people like me and like NOW! Therefore, I got the address to the Connection Complex and away I went. It was a Friday Night and the Club was jumpin’. I got to see the second show in the theater and was shocked that I had missed the first one. Had I of known, I would have arrived sooner. I hate being late for anything. That holds true to this day. The show I was about to see, was about to change my life forever. The First girl out of the gate was the Special guest, and the first Queen I had ever seen in person, her name, Rita Ross from Nashville Tenn. She did the song “Fly Girlâ€? I was rather impressed and would come to find out I felt that way throughout the entire show. I met a few people that night and made some fast friends. One of those few people was non other than Syimone. She and I became great friends and still are to this day. Time went by and I grew to love my new world. I had met all kinds of new friends and was more than happy because I finally got to be the real me. It wasn’t to long before I was wanting to try my hand at Drag . So, this woman by the name of Debbie, condom Deb we called her, whom I had become friends with talked me into doing an Amature night at The Connection. I was so scared I almost pissed my hose. By the way, can you say UGLY! God what was I thinking? The first song I ever did, well in front of people, and not in a towel and dress from my mothers closet, was “Sooner or Laterâ€? by Madonna. I wore a blouse of Deb’s with a belt around it as my dress. A curly blonde wig she had in her closet. And all this “real girlâ€? makeupâ€Â¦ oh I looked a fright. But I faced my fear of stage fright. I did that number as best I could, Knees knocking about and all. And looking back I must admit It was fun, because I was hooked. Time went on, and so did I, for 3 years of Thursday Nights. In that time I had gotten a job as ticket taker at the bar. I became great friend with the cast of La Boy Le Femme. And, I entered my first drag contest, Miss Kentucky Newcomer. All I can say is, you had to be there to fully understand how hard I have worked to be where I am today. Now, getting on cast at the Connection was a lot easier than it is today and I just happened into it. The bar wanted to hire girls to be their new “production girlsâ€? and I was in the right place at the right time. I know now that there is more to that story, and I have my suspicions that the cast, at the time, had a lot to do with it, because I know how things work today. But I wasn’t about to ask too many questions with a gift horse looking me in the face. My first official night of work was Dec. 31st 1990. Yes what a way to start off the new year. And that is how I have began every year since. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am so rewarded with what I do. I set goals for myself and I work hard at bettering myself as an entertainer. Thru the years I have done a great many things I am proud of. The first was winning my first title, Louisville Entertainer of the Year. Then came Lexington EOY. Next were Southern Regional EOY, Kentucky EOY, and Derby City EOY. I have gotten to be a presenter at the “Best of Louisville Awardsâ€? along with fellow sister Mahogany. We managed to capture the crowd, remain professional, made a few jokes all the while never loosing our dignity or the respect of our gay community. It was a night I will always cherish and never forget. I have been the entertainment at Three Crystal Ball Circuit Parties-- Years 2000, 2001, 2002. I filmed a Movie called Fake ID in 2002. I had a great time doing that. It is much different than shows I got in drag and then sat around all day waiting, but I kinda just went with the flow. I had never done anything like that before and everyone said that’s how it goesâ€Â¦SLOW. I am and have been the Entertainment for the past two Ky. Derby Benefit Party. I cannot begin to tell you how rewarding this is. To know how much hard work that is put into this party and all it entails I am flabbergasted and humbled just to be a part of it all. I have joined a Comedy Show at Louisville’s own Comedy Caravan on Bardstown Rd. with Bernie & Fain. We have a show on the second Tuesday of every month when there are five Thursday’s in the month. Sound confusing? Well, just think about it. And don’t forget to come to see us. My life now is more than I ever thought it would or could be. I am so grateful to everyone that ever made this possible for me. My friends My family My sisters and all the fans of our show.
