About Me

"The driving questions that wake me each and every morning are, 'How much is God worth and how can that continually be expressed through excellence and Spirit-filled power within the medium of music and other Fine Arts? More importantly, how can hearts, minds and lives more effectively be impacted and transformed by Jesus Christ through the beauty and power of Music and spirit-filled Worship?"
Click above on the Blog Entries entitled Defining Moments In Worship to read sample excerpts from the devotional commentary. Please take time to comment on and respond to the Blog. Dialogue is warmly welcome.
In addition to music and local church ministry, Pastor Rick has spent many years, deeply involved in Christ-centered intervention and social work with marginalized Youth and Families at-risk in some of the toughest neighborhoods in the inner cities of Chicago, Oakland and San Francisco as well as having served several years as a school teacher in Chicago.

He ministers as an anointed Bible teacher and aspiring author, who loves teaching the Word and exploring the worship experience as it is discovered in the Scriptures and in the lives of Bible characters. Rick is currently completing a devotional commentary to that end, which will compliment his currently unfinished recording project, aptly and simply titled, Defining Moments In Worship. He is also writing a book that that teaches worship leaders and pastors the essential characteristics of a healthy and very productive local church worship ministries. Rick is a veteran of the US Navy as well as the US Army Reserve. He received his formal education at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago where he continues graduate seminary studies at this time.

Influences: "I naturally want to say that Christ has been the one, single greatest influence on my music. Very early in my life, I had a strong sense of what it felt like when the Holy Spirit really moves upon the heart through a song. Since those early experiences, my quest has been for the Lord to reproduce that same experience for others in my own music."

Christian Influences: In CCM, Michael English, Russ Taff, Dallas Holm, Wayne Watson, Larnelle Harris, Steve Green, Michael Card and Israel Houghton.
In Gospel, Donnie McClurkin, Smokie Norful, BeBe Winans and Fred Hammond and Ron Kenoly.
In Southern Gospel, Bill Gaither, Kenny and Ronnie Hinson, Rusty Goodman and the Goodman family, Dottie Rambo, John Starnes, Squire Parsons and Jimmy Swaggart.

Secular influences: In Soul and R & B, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Percy Sledge, Ray Charles, Michael McDonald, Stevie Wonder, Stevie Winwood, James Ingram, Luther Vandross, George Benson, Joe Cocker and Lionel Ritchie.
In Pop, Steve Perry, David Pack, Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Lou Graham, Elton John, Robert Palmer, Bruce Hornsby and James Taylor.
In Country, Keith Whitley, George Strait, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Marty Robbins, Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs and Eddie Rabbit.
Sounds Like: "Spiritual Nourishment in the form of Music!"

"As a singer and writer, I suppose I'm a bit of a Mut. I've at least been told that I sound like a mish-mash of retro Soul/R&B, Gospel, CCM with some Nashville Country and Southern Gospel in there somewhere. I suppose I would probably have to agree with that."
