About Me

I was born in S'ton, UK, and grew up mainly in Perth, Australia. I lived back in the UK for 12 years, in Southampton, London, Essex (Basildon), Kent (Maidstone), before moving back to Perth when my second baby was due, so my girls (Damaris Aubrey Fire & Zyah Violet Snow) could get to know their grandparents. I had a third baby, Zeth Micheal Thunder on the 5th of May 2008.

Alot of my time in the UK was ruined by severe depression, which started after my Uncle died. Writing songs, my family and a few close friends helped to pull me through. Having my two little girls opened up my world again.

I am very eclectic, with a 4-octave range, and am signed to a new record lable, where the fans decide who gets to record a top album: www.sellaband.com

My debut album ("Fire & Snow") has just been released, and you can
download 1 free mp3 from my label: www.sellaband.com/shop/artist/mandyleigh/

The album was recorded in London with Mick Glossop (www.mickglossop.com), who has done 15 Van Morrisson albums, Frank Zappa, The Waterboys, PIL etc etc. The musicians were Johnny Scott (guitars - Van Morrison), Liam Genockey (drums - Steeleye Span), Tim Harries (bass - Steeleye Span, Katie Melua), and James Lascelles (keys, dulcimer, percussion - Frank Zappa, Cockney Rebel). The album was mastered by Kevin Metcalfe (U2, The Who, Paul McCartney, etc).

The album has been described as "Spirit of the 60's", which is what I wanted. It was recorded live as a band in Dean St Studio's (Soho, London) over 3 days. Influences are Janis Joplin, The Band, The Doobie Brothers, Joni Mitchell, Jeff Buckley and many more.
