This Way Out

About Me

This Way Out is a new trumpet and guitar duo that combines sophisticated brass textures with primitive guitar tone clusters and noise.

The semi-improvised songs chart what happens when an electronics-loving jazz-schooled trumpeter collides with fuzzy modal guitar and wheezy baritone loops, with results that range from pretty raga-esque tone poems to the twisted-metal sounds of a freeway pile-up. Imagine Don Cherry jamming with Lou Reed and you get the picture.

Satish -- the trumpet player with only one name -- is the erstwhile leader of the jammy jazz collective Indofunk and is a freelance musician who keeps himself quite busy in the funk, jazz and improvised music scenes in NYC.

The guitar operator Dan Jones has been active on the NYC looping scene since the turn of the century and has been a occasional reviewer for "The Wire" and other music publications.
