You should create your own MySpace Layouts like me by using nUCLEArcENTURy .COM's MySpace Profile Editor !The four albums which influenced me the most growing up were Stevie Wonders "Songs In the Key of Life", Supertramps "Breakfeast in America", Michael Jacksons "Off the Wall", and Level 42's "Running in the Family"
I can remember listening to them and getting caught up in the sounds and textures of each song, and dancing and singing in my living room for hours. A scary sight even then. It took the doctor four months to convince my mother it wasn't epilepsy. Once the doctor assured her I was fine, she got mad that I did that stuff on purpose and forced me to listen to Barry Manilow for a year. What a long year that was. Anyway....
Before I knew anything about music theory (and who's to say I do now), or thought about a "career in music", these records were like a playground to me. All I had to do to get there was just turn on the stereo and listen. I studied music for awhile at a really great university, but I was never much for school. I picked up what I could while I was there...mostly STD's but thats a whole other story. I did however meet some great musicians who have become close friends and although they've been an enormous help to me, claim absoultly no responsibility for the content of my recordings. They would glady accept any royalty checks should there ever be any forth comming. (Don't hold your breath fellas). I think one of them knows a entertainment attorney somewhere. I thought we should hire a pimp, faster results. Whatever.
So anyhow. I try not to take myself too seriously. I Write songs. we record them. I sing standards in night clubs from time to time. I mouth off to people when I can get away with it. I like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain. You know the type.
