The rhythmic and harmonious style of R&B-Soul singer Troy Bell can aptly be described as a fusion modern day R&B and old soul with gospel undertones. Born into a gospel musical family in Louisiana, Bell began singing at the tender age of five. His grandmother was youth minister director at the Baptist Church where young Bell performed his first solo.
Not yet in his teens, Bell relocated from his small Louisiana hometown to Miami, Florida. Two years later, he scored his first paying gig as a dance choreographer with Princeton Entertainment under the direction of Larry Smith. Bell’s notoriety in the world of dance choreography would be his segue way into the music industry.
Upon completing his degree in Music Education, Bell went on to write, produce and arrange music for a wide array of artists including Jo-Jo, Anthony Hamilton, Yummy Bingham, Raymond Benzino, Jackie-O, Gordon Chambers and many others.
Bell’s solo project, tentatively titled Sixth Street is a fresh, introspective medley of songs touching on every emotion from passion to loyalty to infatuation to good old fashioned LOVE.
*Troy Bell’s musical style has been compared to Aaron Hall, Dave Hollister and Carl Thomas. Artists Bell credits with inspiring him are John P. Kee, Kim Burrell, Donny Hathaway, R. Kelly and Sam Cooke.
