A Coupland moment is when a random factoid/statement/thing appears in different situations. Example, you’re suddenly thinking of having a tasty ice cream treat, perhaps an ice cream sandwich and the ice cream truck rounds the corner, playing a mad rhythm.
Or, you are listening to late night wacko am radio with its talk of conspiracies, alien abduction and religious rights and someone blurts out the discovery of Atlantis off the coast of Spain. Then a few days later you’re reading the newspaper and there it is, an article about the possible discovery of Atlantis.
Coupland Moments!
I love Douglas Coupland and I wanted to start a page for everyone to write their own Douglas Coupland Moments.
This is my favorite "Coupland Moment" that I would like to share with you.
"When I came back to get my bike, I found it smashed
beyond all fucking recognition.
There was a note taped onto the handlebars, so I picked it up.
In a cramped, girlish handwriting it said:
'I ran over your bike with my car. The witnesses think I'm writing my name and address. They are wrong.'"
