”Frickin’ gorgeous! This hitherto unknown to us Sicilian duo (Delfo Catania on guitars, sitar, flute, tapes, homemade instruments, percussion, etc. + Carlo Matanza on Moog, organ, theremin, and suchlike synths) delivers a sparkling slab of late-night, outer-spheres, electro-acoustic dronepsych improv. Good listening with the lights off, eyes closed, headphones on, suitably relaxed, ready for the "astral voyage" that this indeed simulates and/or stimulates.
An abstract ritual of chiming and tinkling opens track two, which also is graced with wordless female vocals, moaning on high, the contribution of guest Shirin Demma. Echoing piano chords also punctuate this haunted voidscape... This one’s a bit like a spaced-out John Carpenter soundtrack, as heard (hallucinated?) through the walls of a New Age isolation tank... towards the end some simple folky guitar meander adds to the mesmerizing mood. An altogether satisfying voyage, is Comet III’s debut trip though our headspace, a perfectly mysterious and evocative tribute to its kosmiche krautrock forebears for sure...”

"These are long form, stellar projections of spacey music, calling you away from the comfort of earth, and out into the cold expanse of space. It would be too easy to turn this into an exercise in sappy pretense, but thankfully, this release has enough strength to avoid those pitfalls.This is a five track trip into the furthest reaches of spectral exploration. Track three (titled “Part 2”), contains a sax solo from Gaetano Firlito that owes more than just a little to the classic use of sax on the middle period of Pink Floyd’s classic material. On track two (titled “Part 1”), Shirin Demma contributes a beautiful and ethereal vocal performance that elevates this recording further into the stratosphere.Overall, this is an effective launch into the cold expanse of space, guided by the capable hands of our Italian explorers: very effective, and a great addition to any space rock collection."

COMET III – ASTRAL VOYAGER (FM 12). Curioso, é o mínimo que se pode dizer do trabalho do duo italiano que se revela atrás (e à frente) do nome COMET III. Delfo Catania (guitarras acústicas e eléctricas, flautas, field recordings, fita magnética, cítara, bricolage variado, percussão, etc.) e Carlo Matanza (sintetizadores, Minimoog, órgão, theremin, g2 e mais umas coisas) parecem ter passado muito do seu tempo a olhar o espaço interestelar que se avista nas melhores noites sicilianas, à procura de respostas para as questões que o homem se tem colocado a si próprio desde sempre, sobre o que está para lá do que hoje é possível conhecer com toda a parafernália de sondas, telescópios, satélites, Laikas, macaquinhos, naves tripuladas e não tripuladas. A tripulação do ASTRAL VOYAGER – assim foi baptizado o veículo – reforçada com presença de Shirin Demma (voz espectral, na primeira parte) e Caetano Flirto (sombras de saxofone, na segunda) empreende uma viagem electroacústica com a duração de 50 minutos, navegando por entre nebulosas e planetas em velocidade lenta. O psicadelismo do duo/trio lembra o período psicadélico dos Pink Floyd, com um pouco do chamado rock alemão dos Tangerine Dream à mistura, em versão experimental. Nada que não se tivesse ouvido já antes, é certo, embora o que aqui conte seja a recombinação de elementos sonoros eléctricos e acústicos conhecidos, que passam a estar organizados numa configuração que ainda não havia sido testada aos nossos ouvidos. Os resultados são surpreendentes e susceptíveis de estimular a imaginação do ouvinte e de o transportar para longe, muito longe na galáxia. .
