Hi!
My name is Steve Wallis. I am a socialist political activist and singer/songwriter currently living in Manchester.
I was involved with a band called Red Day, based in Glasgow, earlier this year and I have put some recordings we have done on this page. I hope to do further recordings with this band, but I am relaunching my Manchester band Galaxia and looking for band members. Galaxia has performed demo versions of two new songs, including Things Can Only Get Bitter mainly about British politics. Contact me (preferably by emailing [email protected] or phoning 07725 735255) if you want to participate in Galaxia. I would also particularly welcome emails from people I used to know and have lost contact with.
I have also done a lot of recordings on my own, which I have called Socialist Musical Poetry. The Project Playlist music player widget was deleted from the page by MySpace due to copyright problems with that software. I hope to put a selection of those songs back on this page using different software in the near future; for now, you can watch videos of me performing some of my songs at demonstrations in London and Manchester. Click on the play buttons in the Music section of this page. Note that the videos don't always play, perhaps due to censorship - you can also find them on my YouTube page .You can download copies of my songs/musical poetry and browse lyrics from the musical poetry page of my socialist website .An earlier incarnation of Galaxia recorded three songs in Manchester in June 2005, just before the G8 summit at Gleneagles (Scotland) in July, including Do They Know It’s G8 Time? (my lyrics to the Band Aid song Do They Know It’s Christmas?) and The Revolution Starts Now!Note that I have improved the lyrics of the latter song considerably; the new version is called The Revolution Could Have Started Then! (which you can download from my musical poetry page).
