About Me

Josh Bonnett is a composer and songwriter based in Yackandandah, Australia.
Originally from the Gold Coast, and the original lead guitarist of progressive rock outifit Zygospore, Josh spent his teenage years playing guitar until his fingers faded away. Once they grew back Josh moved on to study Jazz guitar with Aussie guitar greats Jim Kelly and Phil Manning. He taught himself drums, drowned his ears in every genre of music imaginable and then sailed away to Canberra to master orchestral Composition at the Australian National University.

Presently, Josh is recording more demos and going in search of artists to take them to the world.

IN THE YEAR 3000

Well, the most striking thing about this song is the guitars, especially the intro. The chord and lead-line interplay sound like the sonic equivalent of two grasshoppers playing in the summertime, very happy. Fans of Steven Howe and Steve Hackett would defintely like this group.
When the vocalist comes in it defintely brings the feel of 90s alternative rock, both in his delivery and lyrics. It is like David Gilmour had a son, whose band is on the Reality Bites soundtrack. Thematically, with its discussions of time-travel, this would be something that Radiohead would write about.
All in all the song does a great job of being intelligently progressive and catchily pop without compromsing eith quality.

Love the guitars and piano intro. Very atmospheric and prog. I'm waiting to hear something special! Instrumental delights? Then the vocal comes in. Nice voice! Good hooks in the chorus! I like the lyric. It's out there! This is one of the best songs I've heard in the prog genre in Garageband. I like the bridge change. All in all...great!!!

EVOLUTION
Well the intro, with its middle-eastern guitar figures, is some of the finest playing I thus heard on garageband.com. The song itself, sounds like a collage of smaller parts, which seems to flow in and out of the song like flocks of butterflies. This song makes extensive use of flutes, which also makes one think of butterflies.
The mood is somber and whimsical, and the lyrics sound like they are part of a story to a concept album.
Definitely, something fans of early Genesis or Gentle Giant would like.
Who do they sound like you ask? Pretty much the best best of 70s prog. You cannot go wrong there.

Pulls out all the tricks!!!
Love the doppler vocal at the beginning!!!
When the song kicks in...I like the instrumentation. Lots of different sounds combined make for a really interesting listening experience!
The vocalist is top notch with great intonation!!
Love the flute-very Ian Anderson...as well as the harp...MAGIC!!!
The Gentle Giant vocals in the middle are very cool.
Now we have acoustic guitar and glock...as well as ebow guitar sustains!!!
You guys are really pulling out all the tricks! Love it!
There's a really high standard of musicianship that is clearly evident in every bar of this piece that's incredibly interesting, provocative and is always changing.
I like progressive rock to try to give the listener something to think about and this track does that admirably!
As for who you sound like? That's a real hard one. I'd say you have all the inventiveness of Gentle Giant and King Crimson but brought into this century.
Well done!!!
